So what have you done today..?

  1. Yeah this’ll be quite a pricey bike, as it’s a low mileage late model with every conceivable accessory!

  2. Ah, I was completely sold on the SE01s... I may regret the Road5s from what you say, although my brief research seemed sound enough. The tyres I've been riding on since I bought it earlier this year were 10yr old Conti Attack2 and it rode well on them! I'll see. It's the 190/50 rear that's on back order with unknown availability...

  3. You will LOVE the PR5s if it’s been on 10year old tyres

  4. In my early days of converting miles into kilometres on the fly, typically I'd mix up multiplication and division and 1.609 instead of 0.621, and inadvertently break the sound barrier - but that was 30 years ago, on the Jota, and I haven't had a speeding ticket since.

However, it seems to me - particularly given how the main clock on the 999 is the tacho - that the neater solution is to report my rpm, rather than either kph or mph. I can leave which gear I'm in ambiguous, rather than omitting which unit of measurement I'm referring to. So, I'll do that: henceforth I'll report my velocities in engine revolutions per minute.

I'll use decimal RPM, of course. 100 minutes to the hour; 100 seconds to the minute. For converting to MPH, multiply RPM by 10000 and divide by 60. Then multiply by suspected gear ratio. Or divide.

Because I no longer live in the sticks, I didn't get any conkers this year!

  6. Last night I went to the O2 Academy in Leeds to see Shed Seven. They were excellent! And more than ably supported by The Lottery Winners! Great gig!

Today I’m going out for lunch with SWMBO and her brother and sister in law :)

  7. I'm leaning against a hot radiator at the minute, trying to get motivated for the day.

  8. my heating timer failed this am, now also by the radiator warming up.

  9. What is this with radiators ? Came down this morning to find the living room radiator barely tepid. Couldn’t find my radiator key so had to shoot out a buy another one. Radiators now bled, boiler pressure topped up and waiting now to see if there is hot water circulating throughout the system. -3 degrees here so I’ve had to dig my wooly pully out today. Andy

  12. We’ve been for a lovely lunch with my brother in law and his wife.

Came home to an even lovelier phone call from #2 son who’s just been offered a new job as an Operations Director with a facilities management company. I’m very proud of him :)

  16. Went for my monthly sports massage then headed to the Apple store in Meadowhall for a “genius” to take a look at my iPad as the home button started playing up yesterday :bucktooth:

The genius showed me a short term workaround but naturally told me that it’d be better to replace it as it’d only get worse. And given I’ve had it 5 years now I decided to do just that.

New iPad is on order but unfortunately they are on an 8 week lead time. :(

  17. The bloke the other day / week in the Ford GT40 turned up in this baby.

  18. My 'The Ducati Story' arrived. Impressed it was cellophane-sealed; even my Cathcart 'Ducati 999' at four times the price wasn't (interestingly you'll find only used copies of the 999 standard version available, but the Publisher's Edition - signed by Terblanche and Mengoli - is still available new, and cheaper than those used copies!).

Anyway, just finished the singles section. It makes me want to go for a ride every bit as much as watching racing does, but interspersed with kicking myself over all the Ducatis I didn't buy 40-odd years ago. Especially yellow ones.

  19. I’d have that over the GT40 every day of the week.

  20. I'd opt for the greedy and excess option taking both home with me.
