I’ve had the same. Racing killed trackdays for me. Then I did one on the multi and it was hilarious! (Apart from binning my 6 week old bike….) I can honestly understand why @Android853sp is building a multi and why people ride supermoto type bikes in track. It’s a hoot. And you know you can’t go flat out due to ground clearance etc and it somehow makes pushing hard into braking so much fun. Ok so I’ve bought a panigale now for trackdays but that’s more because of height and reliability of the older motor really
Nowt wrong with a 748R for trackdays, I have a 749R just for the track. Just get easily available track bodywork, a second hand tank maybe and you’re away.
all really good points, I have to say having only just got my van I feel I’m late to the party with Trackdays in the uk. I do some with a private ones with a club that goes out to Spain a lot but it’s a lot of time away from the family which means I need to try and do a year of regular uk days and see how I get on. Tyre prices though are something that’s totally caught me out, I had no idea they had crept up like they have.
I feel pretty lucky reading this thread. I have a lot of fun with some great people on uk track days. We have a laugh, take the piss and all mess in to help as necessary. And it doesn’t have to cost a bloody fortune. Most spend more than we need to on our bikes I suspect (but it’s our choice). One of our lot runs a bog standard 675. Base model. Only mod is track fairings. He runs generally in the fast group. His bike is probably a 2013. Oil change every other day. Service once a year. Maybe he is lucky. Tyres are going up but so is everything. If I watched Chelsea every match that would cost £5k per annum I guess without trying too hard (not counting any Euro trips). Pays yer money and makes yer choice.
Always found half the fun is the social side and lots of banter not just the time on track so agree with you.
haha we will see mate! I wanted to get another thruxton r for road riding but we will see what happens next summer, got a van to pay for first!! ref the banter, I think it’s something I’ve lacked, not having a social circle of track guys to do the, with until more recently where hopefully I know a few more. Would just be good if they weren’t all faster!
@Phill748 mate if you ever want to join us on a track day your more than welcome there's usually me, @Expat Jack ,@Cream_Revenge ,@Not Carl Fogarty and a few other of my mates that come ,we usually fill a garage between us and as rich mentioned we're laughing and taking the piss from 7am in the morning. oh and @tcrofty7 will be joining soon too.
Been looking at that date personally but also a few are on for Donny Sun 20th March. Edit. And our lot cover Novice, Inters and Fast which is helpful.
