Sorry at least leather jacket and jeans never ever shorts and t. Saw a fella today dressed as the thread title, each to their own is fine but the (approx) 12 year old kid on back was wearing same????! Yep personal choice, just not mine love peace and hair grease xx
When I got my gravel rash forearm (the bomber jacket sleeve snagged on the road surface and rode up my arm), I was also wearing heavy duty Levi jeans.......just a slight scraping on the thigh seam was all they got and saved my leg from serious damage (mind you I got a hefty bruise)............plus I was wearing cheap paddock boots and the sole was ripped off one, leaving a broken footrest to stab me in the sole of my foot...........that did hurt. And that was the second time I was caught out not wearing proper boots.
I bunked off early on Friday for a cheeky ride. I was in full leathers, gloves. Boots etc, and it was pretty unpleasant, I popped into Homebase and thought I was going to pass out, I was so over dressed.
and most of the time we dont fall off our bikes ...........but once just once it happens not really when you want to gravel rash yep got my merit badge for that and when its healed and you want to show it off to impress the ladies all it does is show you were unlucky .....or basicaly a dumbass................ dont we all aspire to ride a cbr 900 in flip flops and shorts but to brag about it sorry rant over not really meant to offend anyone but bit of a pet hate :frown:
My in-laws used to live on the Côte d'Azur, down by the coast road. Every night the sound of ambulances taking injured bikers to hospital. And you'd read about it in the papers the next day. The Germans would ride down in full leathers and kit, and then abandon it all for flip flops and shorts for all their short trips to the beach and the cafés. It all ended in tears for so many of them.
I was waiting for El Tell to say I'd still bash her back doors in! I saw a t shirt of that the other day and thought of you El Tel!

I know when i was younger i never wore the correct gear and was a knob on a bike, but older and wiser now, I always wear the correct gear and when my eldest daughter wanted to go on the back, the 1st thing i did was order her all the right gear. Would not dream of taking her on the back without it.
Remember seeing a dispatch rider years ago in the summer and he was wearing a pair of swimming trunks ( i kid you not), he had come off and slid down the road......open a tin of peeled tomatoes and thats exactly what his entire body looked like, not a pleasant site

ooooh now that looks interesting, i can water my hanging baskets whilst lovingly looking at a small child wearing my flip flops, im wearing the flip flops not the small child you understand. now where did i put my sewing machine !!!
