I’m a volunteer at the Bo’ness railway and was having a look round the diesel shed one day when a cylinder liner from a different loco’s engine was being brought in on a trolley. It was massive - makes motorbike ones look kind of pathetic. The valves were pretty impressive too.
Many years ago, I used to drive a fork lift truck that smoked like that, no kidding. To start it, a mix of petrol and diesel was poured into the inlet, a large piece of newspaper was then lit and held over the inlet whilst turning over the engine, and it did fill the room with smoke just like that, health and safety, Meh.
I don't really know much (anything) about UK trains. I vaguely recognise the way that one looks from memories made a longtime ago. Has the design not changed, is that a museum train, or are we still using old shitters from yesteryear?
Global warming my ass. It’s fucking freezing down here and has been raining sideways since Christmas Eve. I’m off to start the Aston
Just managed a quick ride out on the bike due to it not raining today and quite mild. It’s been raining every day since I broke up, climate change, my arse.
The Class 37 diesels were built in the 60s and some are still in main line freight service today. The one in the video is being restored by the Scottish Railway Preservation Society at Bo’ness. They make a great noise when at full speed.
