  1. Nice ride, 31 miles, mud and wind have knackered me. I feel an afternoon nap coming on.

  2. I know those trails well, we've done a few trips on Mountain bikes following the classic trial at the end of mgp week.

It's a good ride from douglas to peel. Also done the st johns up to kerrowmoar on the old railway (to get up to jerby festival during a classic visit), that's fairly gnarly and good mtb territory. Ran out of trail at kerrowmoar with farmer saying it's private land and kicking us off onto the main road:D

There's another round foxdale way isn't there? Never ridden it but seen signs of it.

There some cracking mountain biking on the isle of man :upyeah:

  3. Last of the year, 30 miles in the water, slop, slime and mud. That'll do for 2021...

  4. Well Done! If the rain keeps off planning to go out so can be somewhere on the strike, would take a hip flask if I had one. :)

  5. - just an easy 25 miles on the old railway tracks.

I didn't know there was any easy riding on The Island!
I did the End 2 End five times when I was younger and fitter, I don't remember much flat terrain after the first few miles on the road.

Spot the bike - Happy New Year.

Stumbled on a co-ordinated rave in the centre of Chertsey on the way home. Over a dozen Police vehicles blocking the road, I cycled thru the lot which was fun.

  7. My cycling 2021 was significantly better than previous years, but hoping to break 3000 miles this year, it’s going to be a challenge as I reckon it’s a maximum of 46 weeks, not allowing for injury or illness. I can keep the momentum up by using the roller in foul weather. I’d also like to get out 3 times a week, so commuting twice a week is going to be key, generally I don’t work Fridays so two rides over each long weekend.

  8. 110 kilometres a week, 1 ride of 110k over any of those 3 days will tip you over that target easily.

  9. I use strava, it's quite handy with goals etc. You can set weekly, monthly, yearly goals in hours or mileage. I only ride mountain bikes so my goals are exclusively hours. 8 hours minimum weekly, 400 hours minimum yearly. Winter is toughest by far, you've got to take your opportunities, if it's fine I'm out, if it's rough, I'm on the turbo.

Once you get into the habit of going out for a peddle and enjoying it, you'll not need motivation but just opportunity.

When your fitness gets to a level (you are probably already there) where going for a ride isn't painful but just enjoyable, you'll find yourself itching to get out.

If you're like me, there are times when you'll need to kick yourself up the arse to go out, CBA creeps in if you have a few days off.

Get ready to do some spending too, you'll get through bike parts and kit faster than you think if you're riding off road.

I'll see if i can upload my stats for 2021 from the strava year in sport.

    Enjoy it :upyeah:

  10. You’d think being Police they’d park more considerately whilst they raved.;)

  12. Yep - it's easy enough to find - you just head up the Slewellyn road at St Johns and there is a lay by on the left which is the head of the trail - it's a bit "bitty" to be honest for the distance...
I've done the northern line a few times - they are going to revamp it and are talking about putting the bridges back in and getting the land back where it's in "private" ownership..

  13. Unfortunately the end to end is no more - to many rules and regs means the volunteers spend too much time...

  14. I did 2000+ miles 2021, mix of road and MTB. I think anymore would require sacrificing other interests. However, I do have some multi day trips planned for this year...

  15. My stats for 2021. My work commutes are in there but they're short. I average 8 hours weekly during the winter and between 10 to 15 hours weekly summer. Working shifts certainly helps with Windows to get out....
