These Winter cycling gloves get good write ups https://www.galibier.cc/product/barrier-black/ As do these Winter socks https://www.galibier.cc/product/firefeet/
Yesterday was probably the worst conditions I’ve ever ridden in, hence only 10 miles and that was a challenge. Unbelievably I got a pb on one segment, which was racing to get back into the dry. The new Stolen Goats gloves were waterproof, unlike my Northwave winter boots.
4hrs around Cannock Chase with my lad his longest off road jaunt stopped off for a refuel at Spring Slade Cafe, Beans on toast with Bacon rashers for him and a bowl of Chips for me. Managed to stay on single track paths but lots of mud making some uphills a real slog fest.
First pedal in 9 days,. 20 miles was nice enough, wind behind going out. Felt like I could ride all day. In my face on the way back, felt like a brake was stuck on!.
Lot drier than Friday, but still cold, bike needs a proper clean, hopefully get it done before next weekend. My 65 mile a week target is going to be difficult to achieve this week. Currently 25 miles ahead of the annual target according to Strava.
Goddam it - nice 6.5 mile ride into work this morning - planing a much longer ride home - then got *that* call - I was at a party on saturday night and one of my friends got a positive lateral flow test this morning... Work wants us to LFT before going into the office and mine came back negative this morning but I had to tell my boss about close contact etc so I got sent home... And it was chucking it down.. Water in my sealskin socks (keep all the rain in) water though my coat etc etc soaked though in less than 5 mins... And the rain stopped 100 yards from home... So that's ruined any chance for a decent ride today as now I'm home I won't head out again...
sorry to hear, but at least you got that crucial outdoors exercise in today, and as I said to someone recently. that first cup of tea when you get indoors is magic. hope you haven't got "it". I am similar after mixing with 100 plus a week ago, really stupid of me.
This was our annual cocktail party - only 18 people but last week I was mega careful as if my better half or I got it the party would have been cancelled - even missing playing a gig on Wednesday night as it was too risky.. But if I get it now it will be fine as it will have cleared for a weekend away at the end of jan. #perfecttiming
Tailwinds are mint always seem the way that for me the wind is always in my face, never seem to chance on a tailwind.
I’ve not many photos from the ‘peak’ of my cycling days I’m afraid Chris nor of my past motorcycles. There is a clip on my FB page of me immediately after completing Paris Roubaix but I look like I’d been living wild for 6 months in the Rockies. I’ll see if I can find some if any though.
Sorry to hear of you getting sent home hopefully you’re salaried. Yeah sealskins are great if it ain’t raining too, a wet inside Sealkin ain’t no fun at all.
Post it !!! That has inspired me to post this .. 22 hours into a 24 hour mtb race, the bike is fucked big time. cracked frame on the drive side chainstay, it had been throwing the chain off every few laps since about 2am.. I'm just coming up on 200 miles - which was the first time anyone had done that on a singlespeed at that event - took third overall (and obvs won the singlespeed cat..) I called it at 22.5 hours and 201 miles.
I signed up for the Flanders ride a in 2020 but that got cancelled. trying to get on this year if i can shed some timber. you can't beat riding abroad
