I wondered if it might be Tavola Gastronomia Siciliana but that’s in New Mills which of course is Derbyshire. Not far from you though.
https://devour.co.uk/ Is owned by the daughter of the owners of the Mamas & Papas group (a modern day Mothercare - https://www.mamasandpapas.com/) She’s done a phenomenal job since it opened in November 2019. The place is an old mill/dye house and she’s kept the architecture in an industrial chic style. And even the car park, which is huge, is well done using that concrete grid system you occasionally see on driveways, so you’ll never step into a puddle when you get out of the car. And the outside eating and drinking area which was built during the first lockdown is done exceptionally well, giving great views along the river at the side. Service and food is exceptional as well. So much so that the DOCGB members want to switch our monthly meetings there now Next time you come up I’ll take you there
I often wake up in the night and read for a bit. Usually a bit earlier than this though. Still renovating the house. It’s a big job, big extension, nearly done though. Just putting the kitchen in. Done the whole house, rewired, replumbed. Should be through in a month. Celebrated yesterday evening, got the new oven installed and working and for the first time for a year in this house I was able to cook something in an oven . All day I was looking forward to an oven cooked pizza, went to the freezer and the Mrs had taken it and cooked it elsewhere . I had to laugh as I was telling her off on the phone but zipped out to the Co-op and bought what tasted like a really lovely oven cooked Margarita. Pictures when I’ve got the doors on.
I remember seeing the pics of the extension you’d built. Looked fab! Will you be staying there. Or selling when it’s done?
The house will be as we’ve always wanted it but it’s my pension fund so I’m putting it on the market at Easter. I’m done with London, you can’t drive any more, you can’t park and the airliners fly in the back window and out the front bedroom window. I daren’t leave a motorbike outside and it’s half an hour of shit traffic before you can get any enjoyable riding. So I’m quite clear, sell this and retire, ride bikes more.
Just brought Gizmo the flying French bulldog home. X-ray today for his leg. Yes it’s broken and he has a nice cast. Full week from first consultation. Told it was a sprain. Didn’t get much better with rest so took him in this a.m. Nice bill! He seems more comfy in his cast. Bloody kids and dog never stop costing.
A little late in the season but more leaves again today before the grass is completely killed off for good, plus some repairs on the fencing, it was cracking good weather so why not take some exercise i thought.
Started to search for a Snowboard holiday for me and the lad, might be heading to Canada or USA for ease of travel.
After a very long wait; pandam, loom breaking and TNT taking 3 months to get my wheel. I HAVE IT, yaay.
