  3. I remember seeing him interviewed some time ago on breakfast TV, the slightly smarmy host said, so, Meatloaf, what should we call you during this interview.

    He immediately replied “You can call me Meat, or Mr Loaf”

    The host called him Mr Loaf throughout, but don’t think they thought that was as funny as I, or indeed Mr Loaf, did.

  5. Didn’t really gel with his flouncy shirt handkerchief carrying theatrical image, but he could hold a tune.

  8. I loathe rock as 'opera', even merely as 'showbiz'. But speaking as someone with the world's worst singing voice, yeah he could.

    Built for opera, I suppose.
     
  9. Barry Cryer, aged 86, one of the last great funny men that wrote humour for radio and the likes of the Two Ronnies. Andy

  14. Saw him in the BBC canteen when I worked at TV centre, seemed like a nice bloke, seem to remember he was quite tall?
