  1. These are not moving.. any tips?

Grub screw out, washer is rattling around somewhere but I will get that later. 20220216_135818.jpg

  2. They do shift. Give it a good tug (fnarr fnarr). Use some good molegrips and be prepared to lose some skin.

  3. Never known anything quite like this.. really not that simple
    Loaded it up with WD40
I have hung off the inside of it with a hook,

Tried to tap it back in with a hammer then wiggle it back out by applying pressure with the handle

    Hardly any movement

Hands are cut to shreds I give up!

  4. Had similar on my arrow can baffle on the Multistrada, I soaked between the two surfaces with gt85 , tapped on the end with a rubber mallet Lots & lots , cloth & mole grips, twisted & pulled, eventually it came out
Try starting the bike up & get some heat into it

  5. Not meaning to insult you in any way at all; you have fully removed the Allen bolt under the rubber cover haven’t you?

  6. Both allen boltss are out, I managed to get one baffle out, but the left hand side isn't coming out, I seem to of angled it and now it's not budging at all.

Given up for tonight, honestly cannot believe how tight they are in there.. I will be surprised if any of the baffle remains by the time I get it out.

  7. Put the grub screw back in, start the bike and get the soot pipe toasty, then try.

  8. Good plan. Leave it for tonight. Let the lube have time to work.
Bit of heat as suggested and it will come out.

  9. Will give it a whirl again tomorrow,

Tapped it back in for now, I don't think starting the bike this time of night and leaving it running will delight the neighbours :joy:

  10. Agreed.

At least the right side is complete, exhaust is going nice and blue, not even ridden it yet.

  11. Don’t mind being ignored
    Didn’t I suggest heat

  12. My apologies, took note but forgot to reply, find it hard to navigate on here with the mobile these forums seem to work better on the laptop.

Will let it get red hot tomorrow, I did warm the bike once or twice today for 5 minutes at a time but figured the neighbours have probably had enough by now.

  13. Swearing at it and shaking your fist whilst growling expletives will loosen its resolve, whilst you leave it overnight to consider its behaviour. It will surrender to your demand’s only after a period of self reflection. Lay some crystals around the bike and light some candles.

  14. Sorry i didnt see this earlier, what you do it make a slide hammer up out of a length of threaded rod with a nut and washer on the end to hook over the inner end of the baffle, Then on the threaded rod sticking out you have something like a lump of hardwood or steel with a hole in it to slide along the rod to hit the washer and nut on the outer end. Tap tap tap and it will come out. Or just buy or borrow a slide hammer

  15. I'd try some heat :p

  16. I doubt heat alone will be sufficient, I removed mine with the aforementioned slide hammer. The DB killers are hard to remove otherwise and its one of the reasons I never put them back in.

  17. Thanks all for your time, patience and dedication..:):upyeah:

I got there in the end, heat didn't solve it.

I used a whole tin of WD40, half a tin of GT85 and some Putoline penetrating spray.

I came to the conclusion that the baffle was no longer fit for purpose once removed due to the way it was bending up, so I drilled 2 holes and used a exhaust spring tool with an old set of mole grips, spanked it with a hammer until it set itself free.

Took a very long time, my hands are covered in cuts and blisters and if I could get my hands on the guy who installed these at the akrapovic factory I'd happily lose a few knuckles too :joy:

The baffle can stay in the odds and sods box until next years MOT, at which point I will simply show them to the tester, at no stage in the future are they being re installed, it's not worth my sanity.

You can see how tight this one was in there by all the marks, considering this system is brand new there is no excuse, not like I was trying to get them out over the top of burned in soot.

  19. I've had a few Akra systems, and they're usually pretty well built. The witness marks on the baffle don't suggest it was jammed in. I reckon you were trying to pull it out on the piss.
