Had our overnight sleeper train from Edinburgh to London cancelled at 6pm tonight. Just managed to get checked into a travelodge. Now trying to book three flights or train tickets back to London hopefully.....
Despite or even in spite of the weather yesterday (Friday) we eventually made it into London for a matinee show. Lunch in Josés near London Bridge, a quick trip on the Jubilee and Central lines to Tottenham Court Road and the Dominion Theatre for "Dirty Dancing". Back to Josés for a spot of supper and a night in the London Bridge Premier Inn. Should have posted all this last night but got bladdered Had a real "dear diary" day, the show was awesome, the food extraordinary and the beer flowed. Our 5th floor hotel room overlooks the Shard and I feel like I had a night on the beer this morning Andy
As it’s snowing heavily we are doing absolutely nothing, except watching Homeland this afternoon, until we go out for an Indian with some friends in the village
We have covid in the house again! My boy tested positive after doing a LF yesterday I did jest with him that the headache he had was covid turns out it is Very strict social distancing here I'm negative as is my girl
Started to build this model kit, estimate it’ll take me about 9 months. I’d forgotten just how small 1/700 scale was. Lots of etch parts to bend and glue hopefully my eyesight doesn’t give out.
Went down to have a look at the Pikes Peak this afternoon. As that would have been the only reason to go to the bike show, I’m going to spend the money I’ve saved today on an Italian takeaway tonight, with a bottle or two of red.
On a cold windy wet day like today that looks the prefect environment with an Aga pumping out the volumes.
Yes bud, well spotted on the range Mrs adores her Esse. We used to own an Aga but the local repair guy refused to repair it the last time it broke, as it had been converted from solid to gas by someone in a garage. Kitchen gets too hot though when it’s on, in Summer it’s unbearable.
Paid £378 for three train tickets from Edinburgh to London and then onto Sittingbourne. Every barrier open and the trains so packed staff couldn't go up and down the train to check tickets. Could have all travelled home for free......
Had the non checking of tickets a few times between on Inter City trains, Daughter could buy a ticket at station got done as soon as she stepped on a local train £20 fine.
Took a call from a tenant asking me if I could —mid storm— drive over there and remove the fence that had blown down during storm b***ard (Eunice) and was now blocking the shared drive. Duly obliged, erected a temporary Heras fence to keep his dog in and am now on the local fencers very long waiting list.
Still in Australia visiting my Daughter, Grange just near Brisbane,….my son-in-laws parents are up for the weekend and Richard was telling me about a new micro- brewery he’d discovered last time he was up … Time to investigate….. Set up in the middle of an industrial estate, next door to a Toolmakers / Engineers, you’d never in a million years think of finding a boozer here … Step inside… And it’s bloody jumping Even got a bit of live music on… In a Joni Mitchell kind of stylee … Beer choices at the bar… I opted for a pint of the no 14 - stand up rice lager… It was okay, but tbh I would have preferred a pint of Wife Beater ( Stella ) All brewed on site though by a really young team who spotted a niche and stepped up to the challenge After a very pleasant hour or so and chewing the fat in man to man, blokey kind of style,..we both came to the same conclusion,…we don’t know how the f….. our wives are still alive ..drive you nuts ! Laters peeps, be good
