guys. no need for an argument! i am VERY impulsive buyer. found bike yesterday ( sunday ) morning, done deal and it was delivered to me yesterday 4pm . i am fiddling with it now. its a cheap ish bike GSXR600SRAD . i will probably drop it few times anyway, i am not that good and total novice on the track so just being realistic. when i get better in a year or 2 i will get myself something a lot better, but for now i am done
Yev, I would say you made a sensible decision even if done on impulse. A decent bike to learn how to make a lap meet at both ends. Its not the bike you are riding that matters, it is how close to its limits that you are riding it.
Right approach. Bet you get hooked and buy a ‘better’ bike within 4 months. In the meantime, enjoy. And let us know when you are going out too please.
good choice, focus on making sure the brakes are spot on mate, they get a pasting on track and I’ve seen horror stories even for new riders on old bikes with brakes that stick etc
I would say 9-12gbp BMW Gen3 is far better value for money than metal junk from 2005, yes. 2005's junk would just annoying the hell out of you, you will crash, pay for repairs and/or failure far more often
Good choice taken me a few years to move up from the R6 and I openly admit am not fast/never gonna win BSB races, but its about does it make you smile at the end of the day As others have said, youll get hooked and say goodbye to any spare cash or free time that isnt track time, or getting prepared for track time - The wife hates my hobby to say the least!
The GSXR6 is the best decision you could’ve made. You’ll thank yourself for it in the autumn when you’ve gotten a grip of proper track riding as opposed to pointing and squirting BS you’ll see going on all around you. Get your suspension set up on day 1.
So, once again, just to be clear, you are telling us that everyone who buys a GSXR k5 to ride on track days will crash repeatedly, and the reason that they will crash is due to the bike being metal junk from 2005?
As others have also said, brakes… those nissins on the SRAD whether 4 pot or the 6 pot versions are not nissins finest hour!!! Probably best way to describe them is that planning to rely on the gravel traps is your best bet

Do you know the biggest difference between UK and EU trackdays ? At UK days, you have few mates paying 200gbp a day and bringing their ancient junk just to spend halfday fixing it after a technical on a warmup lap of first session. Fuck that sadomaso. Better pay extra 3k to get a reliable modern machine.
