Hope so... the brackets are not the same spec/size as the OEM pipes which meant the standard fittings interfere with the carbon sleeve, and the fit is slightly asymmetric which bugs me... give it a few weeks then I'll get a hammer out! Fortunately just after a cosmetic change to preserve the OEM set. Decided this after a close call last year...
Dropped a bike off for a mate to Bains Silverstone this morning. Good to see Geoff, have a coffee and chat. He had a Bimota DB7 in for some work. What a beautiful machine. Anyone here’s?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder mate and you and I are obviously looking through different spectacles Andy
@Android853sp more the sheer quality of engineering than the physical look of the bike. It’s angular for sure but I like it. Quite a lot (but I do have a soft spot for Bims).
So after a load of on/off/bend/curse/-ing this is still where I am at. What a crock... thank Christ SM don't build planes or write navigation software!!
Spooky, our Airbus rep was only telling me yesterday about an A320 they delivered years ago. The wing build jigs at Broughton were out of tolerance and the wings subsequently had a marked twist in them. Needless to say, despite adjusting the flight controls to beyond max limits it still didn’t fly straight.
Fitted an autoblipper to the panigale. Took me an hour to figure out that the reason it didn't work was because the GPS fuse had blown....
Would love this done on my 2016 959, but wouldn't know where to start. Do you know roughly how much this would cost at the dealers? I know the gears are something like £170 to buy, but the horror stories of the plastic ones makes me want to do it!
Which blipper did you go for? I have a BSD unit that’s proving to be a pain to get working properly at the mo
I've fitted a BSD unit as well, but need to get it on the dyno yet to try and set it up. What problems have you got?
Not sure on a 959, but on an 1199 there is a fair amount needs to be removed (including part of the exhaust) to access the side casing which will add to the cost. I would reckon on 3 to 4 hours to do the work possibly a bit more if the water pump is changed
When I first picked the bike up it had standard gear linkage with the selector reversed for to suit race shift and the Blipper unit only worked on the up shift. I purchased some Spider rearsets and put the selector lever back pointing down (as it should be) The result was the shifter didn’t work at all at this point. So I sent the unit back to BSD (who are very helpful) to be re-flashed. I haven’t had opportunity to try it since but hope to get out tomorrow and see if it works now.
Hopefully we have the correctly programmed unit. Bike is fitted with corse rearsets running race shift with the shaft arm pointing down. Took a bit of messing around to make sure the shift rod and arm were close to 90°
If your unit has the newer strain gauge fitted with an LED light, you will be able to reprogram the unit to suit both selector up and selector down conditions. Instructions here: Magneti Marelli / Weber (ecommercedns.uk)
Lovely... when can I book it in with you? I have the akra belly exhaust so hopefully thats less likely in the way? I'll call around and get some prices as I wouldn't trust myself to do it as already broke the throttle housing changing the grips!
