V4 Pikes Peak

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Steelboss, Oct 10, 2021.

  1. 5ft 11 bare footed , 6ft with boots , I found the buffering was at the shoulders which in turn caused helmet sway . Standard screen perfect as it was on the V4 s

  2. Correct the high heated seat is flatter , not scolloped like the standard , way more comphy, yesterday with the high miles my butt was fine .

  3. I will get my tape out later and measure for you .

  4. What inside leg are you? That’s the crucial measurement for seat height. I’m 5’10 with a 33” inside leg, so have long legs and a short body, perfect to get my feet down and tuck in behind a short screen.

  5. I’ve got the standard, tinted touring and also the carbon screen… I’m 6’1 and find them all to be pretty effective with no turbulence, however, the touring screen makes the biggest improvement… especially at this time of year.

  6. See photos below. Its not my bike so no idea how they work.

    • Thanks Thanks x 2

  7. If you look at the Ducati MSPP launch video - from memory it shows the differences in ergonomics - pegs and handlebars.

  8. You’d wonder if Renthal do something similar off the shelf.

  9. thank you for your help

  10. First Impression: Today I could ride for the first time the Pikes Peak V4. Due to new tires, break in time and icy roads I could not try it to the full potential... But here are a few thoughts from someone who is coming from the BMW 1150 GS and BMW S1000RR. The windshield is definitely going to be a problem for touring as from the shoulders up, under and around the helmet is loads of buffering and noise...even at 100 kmh speeds. The gears are smooth reliable and precise ...quick shift works like a charm! I rode in Touring mode but it doesnt seem to like low revs (definitely not in 2nd!) Im a relatively tall guy 6 ft and the seat high set in the highest position gives plenty of leg..takes sometime to get used to the turning signal buttons as I was instead hitting the "Joystick" all the time . Handles the twisties pretty well and although I founded pretty heavy when stopped, at speed handles like a feather :) the seat is very comfy for 60 min ride...will see how it feels in longer tours. The left handgrip felt a bit plastic and shaky (I have the touring package that comes with heated handgrips so I dont know if its the same with the original ones). The engine felt solid and very smooth and delivers plenty of power. It did not warm almost anything (not sure how will be in the summer). A bit thirsty for sure. Will share the full Akra sound video in another post. Stay safe :) 20220227_115411.jpg 20220227_115411.jpg 20220227_115426.jpg

  11. Surprised that you said it doesn’t like low revs as the standard V4S seems very smooth at low revs.

  12. I felt I had to play with the clutch a bit to smooth it out. This happened mostly in 2nd gear.

  13. I’m sure the motor is identical in the PP and the V4S , unless Ducati have fiddled with it and possibly made it worse ?

  14. I have no reference with other Multistradas ...just my overall experience. I had a test drive with the multistrada V4s and felt identical. You guys dont feel this comparing to other bikes?

  15. As promised here is the video with sound of the full Akrapovic system and 360 view with Touring pack.
