  4. My 2014 Multistrada GT had the plastic brake and clutch reservoirs replaced because of leaks, initially with the same type. The leaks were slight and worse on hot days, but the "mist" found its way onto the instruments and tank, which luckily was quickly spotted and cleaned off each time, so socks were fitted as a preventive measure. Unfortunately, the second set also leaked and it was suggested that a set of metal reservoirs should cure the problem, but not covered by the Ducati warranty.
A set of the DP reservoirs were fitted at a cost of about £150 with fittings. However, on hot days these also allowed a mist to form on the outside of the reservoirs below the cap, so the socks were refitted.
Eventually, Ducati said that the solution was not to fill much above the minimum line, and socks would provide extra protection as a back-up. Not really ideal. So, the socks were retained and were on the bike when it was sold.
However, I should say that so far further problems have not been seen on Ducatis owned since, but most have had socks fitted "just in case", and I hope for the best!
Of course, I may have just been unlucky, but reservoir socks are quite cheap and should provide a secondary barrier to help prevent spillage and damage, although fluid level and sock condition should be checked regularly.
    Good luck.
    Tom.

  5. Thanks all, I guess I'll be rocking the socks looks this year! Need a new set as mine are limper than a vicars handshake!

Another newbie question: I have a load of stock parts that came with it, fairing, exhaust etc, that I'd like to sell, do I need to do something to get access to selling forum?

  6. Hi there, you might want to hang on to the standard parts, they only fetch peanuts and it's better when you eventually decide to sell her if you have the standard parts, most owners prefer the option!

  7. You’d get good money for the fairings but pennies as said above for the std exhaust and other bits…

  8. Yeah, apparently the guy I got it from was about to have it put back to stock for a garage too take it, not sure why you'd not want the akro and carbon wheels though! Currently I'm in that mindset of never ever selling it as its ace.... I also don't have much space so was just looking to pass them on. I'll see if I can store them out the way then just in case.

  9. @BomperDuc Is it your first big bike? If so, it’s a gorgeous looking machine for a first “proper” bike. Did you have a smaller bike before the Duke?

  10. Yep first big bike and had it in race mode on Saturday on a trip around Brecon, it was awesome! I have a honda msx grom, currently trying to sell it, but wish I could keep it but just not enough space as its a hoot to ride, wish it had the duc's power!

  11. Update: My saggy reservoir sock flew off and hit me in the face yesterday on the way home down a dual carriageway, thought something had hit me! I had already ordered a new set which arrive tomorrow.

    Few questions:
HEAT: I've read a load on this through the forum, but gees these bikes get hot, mine was on 104°C/220°F yesterday until we had a rain shower which dropped it down to 85°C/185°F. I'm wondering if it needs a coolant swap or is this within safe temps? (seems to be from manual) I can't see any coolant leaking, but yeah it idles around the 95°C mark most of the time especially in slow traffic, once over a certain speed it does drop to 75-85°C - but yeah it doesn't half roast your nuts and I have to stick my knees out to cool down.

STARTING: Yesterday after we stopped it wouldn't start it seemed like it didn't have enough charge, but it had been on a tender and its a new battery. Its the first time its done it and I've been out on it start stops probably 10x or more already. It did then luckily kick in when I turned on the key and hit the ignition at the same time. Any ideas?
