  2. Depending on your reasons for Stugartt (I don't know what the roads are like) but an extra day in Switzerland and a cut up to Adenau/Luxemborg may give you some extra time in the Alps. For example from Interlaken you can hit, Grimsel, Susten, San Gottardo and Furka in a day with plenty of time for coffee and picture stops.

The San Gottardo (4) is an amazing little cobbled pass. (possibly best done upwards) upload_2021-11-5_8-30-7.png

  4. Instead - how about the famous B500 in Germany - you will be in the area ?

  5. Booked a trip to the Pecos for this September. Did the Pyrenees last September, loved it. Me in the Super Sport, Brother on his Triumph ST sprint 1050 and my mate on his Z900RS.

  6. Only 3.5 months to go... Everything now is booked up... Madness. So,in the past 2 weeks I've got a TomTom rider sat nav (that I need to hardwire in), MOT, Pirelli Angel GT Tyres, Oil and filter service, new plugs and air filter, new horizontal spark lead and last but not least I snapped the fast release connector on top the fuel pump when removing the tank. I thought it would be easy to get a replacement from Ducati.... Nope! - Comes as part of the fuel pump, absolutely shat myself but found a post on a forum in Germany (I think) where a Moto Guzzi part has that exact connector - for £10! Pheww... Anyway. Bike is getting there and time is flying!

  8. Fantastic trip! I will only reiterate what’s been said about Switzerland being motorcycle adverse, especially in the mountain areas. Nobody in France goes there anymore. It’s become a total anti-climax to ride through and can have near catastrophic financial consequences…

People ride the French and Italian sides instead. Germany is great as well, provided the weather stays dry…

The road between Dijon and Geneva across the Jura (N5) is really nice as well, especially the second half. The descent from le Col de la Faucille is… quite impressive.

  9. We have ridden similar routes to the OPs, as far down as Tuscany, back up through Switzerland (twice) and everywhere in between, we felt Switzerland was stunningly beautiful and never saw plod having stayed in Andermatt, Davos and somewhere else. Italy wins on the food front and vfm but we wouldn’t avoid Switzerland.

  10. @rdryder, and the Nuke on my post is for ? Andy

  11. Andy,
    That’s because you wrote « Vercour » instead of « Vercors ».

    :D

  13. Yeah, been hearing alot about the Swiss plod, we went through the Alps in 2013 and didn't see anyone! - Obvs that can change in all them years! - We're on a 'take it easy' kind of tour so hoping shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully the signs and the nav will keep us updated with the speeds :)

  14. And I guarantee you, you WILL LOVE  the Picos.
I went there on an EMM trip (European Multistrada Meet) in June 2017, with a load of other like minded Mutli owners from around the globe. Around 30 or so met up. Some incredible roads, adjacent coastline, when we were based in Potes. Once I can find my maps, I'll try to check back in and let you know of a few riding highlights not to miss. No doubt some others on here, who have also experienced this area, will give you a shout out about routes. Have a terrific time and mind the cow dung spread precisely where you won't expect it. For some inexplicable reason, they almost always seems to crap on the centre line on RH bends and the inside line on LH bends!!

  17. An excellent choice too. Lots of decent restaurants, fuel station just on the edge of town and access to some terrific routes. I'm getting jealous simply by responding.......

  19. So now, I have added 30mm Ducati bar risers and just bought a Garmin Zumo 595LM. Apart from getting the bike back together it's all there and good to go... Ahhh, apart from I need the plastic sleeve for the top box lock! - £53 from Ducati!!!!

  20. Be very very careful in Switzerland.

The police will nick you for 1/2mph over the limit and the fines are unbelievable in every meaning of the word.
