  6. Would an SP2 be considered a Track weapon?

(currently have an SP1 and not trying to take the proverbial)

If it’s not the R what could it be?? Some sort of V2 homologation variant??

  8. The Ultimate Racetrack Machine?…

I love my SP1 but it’s not a ‘ultimate’ track bike, maybe the SP2 uses the R as a base rather than the S this time??

  9. Not likely when the R is the mk1 V4. I think it will be same as last year based on the new S with some tweaks to the colours and obviously the lipstick on the air intakes. Next year I think we will see a new R

  10. It will be a parts bin special. To fleece already fleeced fans with more money than sense. Thats what they usually do.

  11. Is that what they did with SP1?

  12. Is it not just a v4s with paint and a v4r tank? +£10k. Or is there something else?

The 1198SP was just an S with an bigger ally tank. Ducati do this all the time.

  13. BST carbon wheels off the SL. Dry clutch. Adjustable Rizoma rearsets. Carbon wings.

  15. I can’t keep up with the amount of special editions Ducati knock out

  16. And who can blame them for doing it.
All the time there are buyers out there who just have to have, and can afford, the latest version, Ducati will exploit them.

Good luck to the players on both sides of the game I say.

  17. Does anyone have any insight or experience of the Ducati Marketing team or philosophy?

I am genuinely interested to know if they are doing their best to service the identified needs of their affluent demographic buyer of new bikes, or are they actively exploiting the same people.

I'd love to know if the process starts with the statement:
"Feedback shows that our buyers want another special edition XXX because they are special people who want to be different and express their ability to be unique, how can we help them?"

    OR

"The Xmas party fund is looking a bit slack this year lads, those morons haven't spent enough with us this year so my Bonus won't cover the designer gear the missus wants."
