Termi db level

  1. So with my track day approaching fast I thought I'd put the baffles in to see how much of a difference to he noise it makes.
have to say I don't like it at all!

More importantly, the baffles are such a snug fit that I'm struggling to get them back out
Does anyone have any tips on the best way to remove them without causing any damage?

  2. Take the cans off and hammer them out from the back. Or a slide hammer to pull them out

  3. Suspected these may be the options available.
don't fancy taking the cans back off having only just put them back on after the ride height adjuster install.

found a slide hammer for decent money on a well known auction site so will go that route.

  4. Always worth taking them but I wouldn't use them unless I was over the noise limit, it stifles the engine.

  5. I wouldn't put them in at silverstone as its a ride by. I've cut the ends off mine to ease the restriction an my old style termis. The slash cut had this done at the factory.

  6. I just used pliers to pull baffles out.at brands and snett she blew 100db without baffles.

  7. I'm more and more tempted to try without the baffles

  8. I just bought myself a sound meter from ebay for £10.00, I have no idea how accurate it really is but it recorded 103.8db for my 748R without baffles and 101.4db with them in.

I compared that to my 748SPS at 102.8 without baffles. Both have carbon Termis. It is claimed that the meter is accurate to +\- 1.5db. It might be worth a thought as to buying one as it looks like it will give you ball park figures. I also suspect it fractionally over records.

I repacked my 748R Termis with Acousata Fil so it is interesting to compare the difference between all the readings, so clearly with my trackday coming up at the end of the month I am going to have to go with DB killers.

  10. I measured mine at 5,500 rpm at half metre away at a 45 degree angle. This is what MSV quoted on their website for the noise test. Over 748cc's and it is 5,000 rpm for a 2 cylinder engine 4 stroke. All the figures are on there. Here's the link http://www.clubmsv.com/bike-testing-noise-limits

  12. That test only applies to MSV circuits, not silverstone.

  13. Tel, to ease your fears about silverstone.

yesterday I was at snetterton. My 848 with full system was 95bd baffles in, 104db with them out. I did the first session with them out and didn't trip the ride by, which is 92db. Touch wood you should be fine with a 102db ride by and baffles out.

  14. Thanks for the advise as I've been tying to figure out what's best to do.
the last thing I want to happen is to get turned away for being over the noise limit. I could always pop home to put the baffles in as I only live 20mins away but as previously mentioned they may not allow that as I should have/ could have put them in before hand.

  15. this is the thing. Every day will be different due to air quality / temp / human error etc.. It's a flipping joke... My stock R6 only just passed at Snetterton last year... This just yaks me off. Why the companies just don't say Dbel killers for aftermarket cans I don't know! Nail in the coffin for British trackdays IMO!

  16. Turns out I was panicking about nothing as went through sound test with no issues. Didn't get a figure but the guy gave me the thumbs up
