Hey All, I've been looking at moving the number plate from the back wheel and started looking at replacement locations, I like the look of the EvoTech Performance Tail Tidy but have been advised that as I'm a largish bloke that there's a severe risk of breaking the number plate on the back wheel due to compression. What are riders thoughts on heavy riders and aftermarket tail tidy's? Am I going to crack the plate / under tail (especially with the weak spring that's currently fitted to the bike) or should I wait and replace the spring and then fit the tail tidy, or ignore entirely and keep the stock kit fitted?
Just tagging onto this one, as I'm interested in revealing a bit more of that lovely back tyre too! (Sorry I'm not actually providing you an answer Simon)
If I owned a Diavel this style would be my choice https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17490466...MImcyr-5TI9gIVvGDmCh0S2AVkEAQYAyABEgILa_D_BwE
Problem with that is that we have a law that wants a large license plate/tag, I imagine it wouldn't take much to have it ripped off due to speed/wind (assuming we stuck to a legal sized plate).
I always use a 7x5 number plate not ever had a problem from the Police,I sure the bracket is robust enough to prevent losing the plate itself that would be my preference. Seems your only other alternative is, far enough away from the tyre that it shouldn’t strike the tyre even for the most robust of riders. https://evotech-performance.com/products/ep-ducati-diavel-1260-s-tail-tidy-2019-onwards
By removing the stock number plate mount, you also remove the crud catcher. Whilst not the most efficient piece of plastic, the first time you are caught on a wet road without it, be prepared to get covered in shit. My girlfriend did 30,000 miles on her first gen 1200 and your 1260 uses the same rear set up concept, so I speak from experience. Andy
I'd be interested what people came up with, here. I think the 2016 set up is a little different to the 1260. There are a few 'tail tidy/number plate holders' available in ebay and online. Evotech seems the better looking, but not cheap. I bought a number plate for my 1299 from JDM Plates. They make the smallest legal plates and if you have a 1 in the top line, they can legally shape the plate. I bought the same style for my Diavel, but just need to decide on the plate holder. The Evotech looks like it might cover some of the those side brake lights/indicators, even with a smaller (legal) number plate?
