Ducati 999s price

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by psalliss, Jun 11, 2013.

  1. I think good photo's are the trick. Good background (no bins etc) makes a huge difference.

I was looking on e bay a few months back and saw a blue R1 for sale at Metropilis, near the Oval in London. It was a straight blue with no graphics.

It looked so nice that I had to go and see it. I did'nt even want an R1.

It's getting people to want your your bike without even seeing it, that's the trick.

How many have been round to see it ?

  2. I think the key is getting the price right and it seems its not right at the moment, and closer to 4k is if thats where all the offers stop

  3. bradders is probably right !.......and it is a lovely bike so just keep it.:upyeah::upyeah:

  4. Looking around I think you're asking too much. Yes, yours may be low mileage but that is cancelled out by it being a older bike.

By pricing it high you could be putting potential buyers off. I'd advertise it at 6k, preparing to take any serious offer over 5.5k. You clearly love the bike and value it highly. Unfortunately your value doesn't seem to match the markets at the moment.

  5. Thanks guys on the advice of others here I dropped the price as it was clearly too high and would accept around the price your suggesting but just had no interest at all even on auction with no starting price. Only one question and no one cme to view it all. If I got someone round I'm confident it would sell as I know I keep harping on but it is very clean with loads of history and decent upgrades added. I don't want to give it away but I'm not using it as use my gs most of the Time so would like to look at a new multi or gs but really don't want to trade in. Want to sell it private to someone who will look after it.

  6. Are you replacing it? Do you have a friendly local Ducati dealer? Maybe a sale or return option..he'll want to make a few quid but most start looking at dealers before private and theres always that added comfort when done thru a dealer for prospective buyers even if it ends up private

  7. The nearest ducati place is dmc at preston which are linked to Ducati Manchester I think. Yes looking to change for new multistrada I think. Sale or return? May have a run over next week when I'm off and have test ride of multi if they've got one and see what px would be. I would have thought less than 4k though

  8. Depends what you buy and how keen they are.

  9. I bought my 2003 999s a couple of years ago, which came with full kit including Dainese Ducati one piece leathers AGV lid, Sidi Boots, and a bike lift. The bike is totally mint, some added bling, and came with only 4000 miles and FSH.
Even with all the extras and delivery I only had to pay a bit over £5k.
Without wishing to offend, you just need to be realistic with your valuation, and compare it with other options that buyers will have open to them. This is especially the case with a 999 because most people don't like them anyway!

  10. Double v. low mileas is still low miles.

Mileage isn't important to me, I buy, or dont, the bike that is in front of me.

The '06 999s I bought had around 16k miles and FDSH. I paid 5k for it. I would pay that all day long over an earlier model with lower miles.

  11. I honestly wouldn't prefer to go for lowest mileage I can get provodming condition and service history matches of course.

  12. Are you looking to get all your money back/make a profit?

How long have you owned the bike and what did it cost you?

  13. In 2006 I paid £78K for an X5 BMW . Saw it for sale a couple of months ago for £11K .Still only had 44K miles on it too. If I had kept it till now I`d have lost £67k 85% in 7 years .

  14. 2 years I think I've owned it and think I paid around 6k from dealer maybe slightly more. Just want as much for it as I can get really to out towards new bike.

  15. Thats a good point, stick it on a paddock stand so the bikes sitting properly, like the 05 one is, also a few better quality pics.

  16. Not being funny but expecting almost no depreciation after 2 years with a bike not many people like is asking a lot...if you had an R model or an SPS 996 maybe

  17. Will do mate. Have re listed it but will take some better pics later in week

  18. It's not that I'm expecting no depriceciation i just want as much as I can get and I honestly would expect to pay around 6k for it due to the condition if I was a after a 999s.

  19. I think that peoples are only now starting to appreciate how stunning the 749/999 actually is.

Radical when it arrived 10 years ago but now looking slim and sophisticated (a bit like myself).

We had a party for my daughters 21st last week and all her friends thought my bike was 'well sick'.

  20. I think your right mate. That's why I was suprised at the lack of interest as everywhere I go get loads of people admiring bike even next to newer stuff. Plus there has been loads of articles in magazines recently
