Hi to the group , I recently got a 1200s dvt 2015 without a chance to ride the bike just keep it in the garage Due the bad weather, after a period of 3 weeks I went to start the bike and took me 4-5 tries for the ignition to start the bike , when eventually start it flash for a bit the red sign of the dss error on the dashboard but left quickly it also did a recalibration of the preload and I chance by my self the preload . After o quick ride 2-3 km no problems and the bike starts well no error . My battery is lithium skyrich. So the error comes and goes due a low battery voltage at that particular time of the 4-5 tries to start the bike and was not able to be functional the dss? Or is something else .? After a while the voltage was at 14.4v idle steady.
I have had DSS error on my 2013 a few times, each time it was a broken wire down by the oil cooler. There's a section of the wiring loom which moves with the steering, the movement over the years damages the wires. If the fault appears when you move the bars from side to side then this could be the fault.
Thx for the replay but this is not in my case cause the bike is stationary when I start the engine and happens just 2 times because low temperature and long period of not using the bike 3+weeks . I left the battery to the tender and now is ok , voltage 14,4 idle and the bike starts fine with no errors and make any calibration in the suspension or modes . The battery is skyrich lithium 2-3y old. In worst case senario if the start of the bike continues to be difficult I will install a new battery .
I get low battery errors frequently in the cold on an aging Lithium battery. The don't handle the parasitic drain of the immobilser well and your starting scenario sounds very much like mine before it finally wouldn't hold enough charge for that to work. It can see a possibility that it can't complete some electronic startup checks due to the low voltage.
Probably this is the case I confirm, I also connect a tender to the battery I left it about 2 hours and was completely charge . But after the charge past 4 -5 day and today I try to start with the 3d atemp. I took it for a ride about 30km no issues at all I stop 2-3 times I start the bike with the first atempt. My battery is skyrich lithium 2-3 years old perhaps it’s time for replace ,although I do not think so I will have any serious problem . No errors nothing at the moment all works fine .
I've had the error symbol a while ago, same time as my heated grips started failing. Had it into the dealer for an annual service, apparently had a loose connection. The fact they didn't charge me anything on top of my service suggests that was the case. Was expecting to have the sudden loss of consciousness and trip to A&E that normally occurs with cost of fixing something like that, lol.
Last week I went to the dealer for annual check and the case was low battery voltage due long winter idle nothing else . I put the battery to the tender for a night and all good as normal . Low voltage do sometimes this things at the ignition .
