Streetfighter V2

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by Snips, Sep 27, 2021.

  1. 200 miles on odometer (40 of which were in the dark, so don't count), and I'm counting 3 :upyeah: from other road users (2 bikers, 1 van driver). I assumed it would go under the radar unless you know what it is "if you know, you know", but it's getting a lot of positive attention :motorcycleduc:

I'm very very happy with it, and glad I made a last minute swerve from buying a Speed Triple 1200 RS (which seems to be accumulating a list of issues :pensive:).

  2. Guys, what sort of lead times are being quoted for this bike by the dealers?

  3. You thinking about changing again?!

  4. I’ve been thinking of changing the Diavel for something a bit lighter, but every time I ride the beast I fall in love with loud growl all over again lol!

  5. What's happening with the Speed Triples then? big problems or niggles?

  6. that’s exactly the position I was in but finally got a SFV4 (I know it’s not a V2 as per this thread) but I’m certain you would definitely enjoy the change to a SF!

  7. 657 miles done. Service booked for Thursday. Weather looks terrible!

  8. Sorry, that's my fault, had my garden re-done over the last week and they just finished, so I used up all the nice weather for that.... oops

  9. Congrats on the new garden.

By the way I have only experienced a slightly warm bum so far, riding through Bognor Regis at about 17 degree air temp, not sure how much worse it is going to get!

  10. it will be fine up to I would say 24 degree ambient temps. Above that it gets REALLY unbearable (on the Panigale anyway) I'm really curious to see whether the streetfighter stays cooler

what engine running temps have you been seeing? is it in the high 80's? low 90's in traffic even in these temps? Mine would run 88 degrees, when my mates 899 following me was running at 78 degrees, and in traffic mine would run at 104-106 degrees easily with the fan constantly on, he would be around 95-100 in traffic.

  11. Called insurance today, for a V4S I'd need to pay approx another £1100 to change from the Diavel 1260S. I'm not sure I'd be happy with the V2, I'd prob find myself wanting the V4S. I think I'm going to wait until next year, another years NCB and another year with full bike license.

  12. I never struggled with the amount of power the V2 engine had, what I struggled with is a lack of drive around 5k revs due to emissions, so I was always tempted to try the V4 to see if it had a more road based torque delivery. I think the V2 will be plenty for most though, it's just my other bike was a thruxton 1200 and so I was used to gobs of torque in any gear from literally any revs, it's a little unfair really.

  13. I would say 70-80's, will pay more attention in future, highest I have seen is 103 sat at the traffic lights, fan came on and it went down again. My rides tend to consist of either 30/40 mph or National speed limit. I have not done much riding in traffic. However from reading your experience it sounds promising because I have not seen those high temps yet.

  14. fair enough, I try to avoid it, but where I live there is a 40mph 'ring road' which all the new estates come off (north swindon) and it's broken up by sets of lights, so regardless of what I do, by the time I get home I might have stopped 4-5 times at red lights and the bike just used to cook.

In fairness, while my MV wasn't physically hot to ride, it did have a little wee wee a few times also

  15. Hey guys! Sorry to jump into the topic like this but as a potential owner of this beauty, I have a couple of questions regarding heat, if you don't mind ;) . I really love the bike, but the V2 engine's heat concerns me a bit, especially for Spanish summer temperatures of 30 to 40 degrees.

I did a test drive a few weeks ago on a Panigale V2, wearing jeans, and after like 30 mins, my right thigh was already on fire, with an ambient temp of only 15°. Is it that bad on the SF or being a naked helps a bit?

  16. Hello and welcome @Rics90 This is exactly the topic to jump in on with SF V2 questions, so don't worry about that.

I'm still running mine in, and here in the UK it's been unseasonably good weather (until today...) so had similar ambient temps (~15°) I haven't had heat issues from the bike at that ambient temp personally, wearing armoured jeans. My expectation is that heat will be similar, though they have raised the seat by 0.5cm, which may make a difference on the seat, but maybe not right leg.

Being a naked may help with cooling airflow when on the move, but I never found the heat on my 959 to be an issue on the move anyway. Stationary, I'd expect it to be about the same.

  17. I found with mine that if I opened my legs and stood up slightly it would basically get a column of air up under my butt to provide brief relief, but once the seat had 'heat soaked' it just never cooled down and the head around the knee's and shins was just horrific for me. Much worse than a 959.

If you watch the launch video, he rides it in November in spain at Jerez and coming in off track the temp guage is 105 degrees... he makes a passing comment that the bike is 'hot'. Compare this to a 959 I rode there in September where I did 5-6 laps in 37 degree heat, and when I came into the pits the temp had just got to 102 degrees. As you are spanish I'm sure you will be more qualified to say whether the september temps in Jerez were 'comparable' but hand on heart I would not have been able to ride my Panigale V2 in those temps, the ask though is whether the streetfighter is better, and at the mo I think it's too early to tell.

  18. Guys, is the stock saddle on the V2 adjustable? Can it be lowered by removing blocks underneath like the Monster 821 can be?

  19. No it is not adjustable, an optional lower race saddle is available though.

  20. Thanks for confirming.

I'm seriously considering one of these. I think a SFV4S would be wasted on me, most the power wouldn't be usuable on the road in anycase. Even taking one on a track day I think you'd need arms of steel to ride one at its full potential with little to no wind protection. More I think about it the SFv2 would suit my needs.
