U can see Ducati changes the seat on the multi v4 it’s flat & comfortable I could ride all day with my bmw r1200rt the prob with 1260 is the Angie which makes. A sporty position but the lowest point is also thinnest Sam on here got a new seat upholstered ( I did that & added a heated seat pad) which was flatter or go to Sussex motorcycles for additional & flatter memory foam (my mate did that with new seat cover from its on eBay) both work
Reviving an old thread to say how truly awful the standard seat is on the 1260GT, and if anyone is also suffering, don’t hesitate in getting a Touratech comfort seat if you find one. I did a couple of hundred miles on my bike at the weekend since refitting the standard seat, and now have saddle sores and aching bollocks from where they crushed against the tank all day.
I've been riding for almost thirty years (jeez!) and owned a lot of bikes in that time, including a BMW that had a Corbin seat. I've never had a bike that's comfortable for more than an hour or so. I recently added a sheepskin cover to my Enduro and that's extended my comfort up to an hour and a half now. I'll regularly do 350 mile days, and it would make a really big difference to me to find a solution. I feel like gel is the way to go, but maybe the problem is just me?!
I’m not certain gel is the answer, it goes like a very solid thing if you’re riding in low temperatures, down towards frost, or freezing - (I know that many here wouldn’t entertain that, but for those that would...@MotoNik sounds as if he would) it then takes an uncomfortable eternity to bottom-heat (blue cheeks) so that it regains the pliability you fitted it for. In extreme heat it will then retain that blazing-sun-on-seat heat for much longer than you’d like (red cheeks), as I found in temperatures of 40+. Otherwise ace and comfy within its non-extremes operating window!
I can confirm I ride all year round! Maybe I’ll try cycling shorts, as my toasty rear end will hopefully maintain the same degree of pliability, regardless of ambient temperature.

Definitely the right way to go IMO , but better to find a nearby firm who specialise in motorbike seats . A real craftsman will look at the seat ( and maybe at you ) and check the wear patterns , and how the foam has been compacted , and re-upholster it accordingly . My seat has done over 100,000 km with my arse on it , so I reckon it well deserves the above treatment ......
I’ve got a pair of the adventure version. Only used them a couple of times (not at the weekend ) so the jury is out, for now.
