Covered Trailers

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Hedge, Apr 6, 2022.

  1. I've tried searching - before I get flamed - but can't find much at all on this.

I want to go down this route. I've looked at vans but for a variety of reasons, this ain't gonna happen. Period.

So, as per the title suggests, does anyone have a view on this? Searches on the Interweb under "best covered motorbike trailer, UK" aren't particularly informative or enlightening.

    Thanks,
    Hedge

  2. IME, there is no such thing off the shelf so you need to look at horse/farm animal/car trailers. Main issue for me is the towing capacity of my tow bar which isn’t up to most twin axle trailers which most covered trailers have. The route of constructing a box for my trailer went out of the window at a very early stage, far too involved. Andy

  4. If money is not a problem you could get one of these, spotted it for sale recently for 6,500 euro AF9F1272-4E74-4AC7-BAC4-3D21916E7D40.png 920E7806-06E7-423F-BD6D-17EE2A589A03.png

  5. I have a Bateson 240V. It has been towed to France and other trips to Italy.

Stable, secure and plenty of space for bike and spares. It can take 2 bikes too.Normal height people can stand upright, unlike some low roof vans.

It is braked and has tie down points etc. New tyres.

It is available for sale, if you decide to go the van route.

  6. I see plenty of covered trailers going by in a morning when there is a car trackday on at my local track. Might be worth a visit to check out the options if you have a circuit nearby.

  7. I’ve got a little Ifor Williams BV86? and it’s an ideal size for a single bike. It’s not super steady on the motorway when you get up to speed, but it’s not too bad. It has a solar panel on the roof that charges a battery to run LED lights and a little compressor. Would recommend one.

There are very often various brands of covered trailer for sale on FB marketplace. Also the group ‘Trackday addicts’ sometimes has adverts for fully kitted trailers.

  8. One of these. Make sure it’s twin wheel and braked. I bought one for 600, used for 3 season and sold for 600. Kitted it with some shelves and hooks and used it to sleep in trackside when racing. But be careful: pikeys love to nick them!
