I suppose that depends on what the rental is in Germany, I’m guessing it’s lower than owning, whereas here, the rental market is so strong (back to lack of housing again) that paying rent is often more than a mortgage so if you can afford the deposit it makes sense to buy.
Then if that is the case I agree. But at least with rental you don’t have to find a huge deposit in the first place ?
The system is geared to make big profits for banks, lenders and land owners and keep the majority of ordinary people working til they drop down dead. The problem with renting is as you get older and into retirement age you would still have to find £500-800 per month in rent whereas if you own your property and hopefully its paid for, then you will not have to do that.
Obviously location has a big effect, but £500-£800 pcm? I think things have moved on a bit since those prices for say a 3 bed semi
There's offers all over Spain But if you want a money-making opportunity, the town of Chiclana de la Frontera (where I'm moving to, about 20mins south of Cadiz) has lots for sale but rental demand is high (it's in short supply and is where the Spanish go for their summer hols), so you can easily make 30K in rentals per year for a 3 bed with swimming pool (about £220K). It's also only 40 mins from Jerez, so you can get rent from people coming for the MotoGP, too.
To close this off, he got the keys today on completion of their new, 3 bed, 3 story end terrace! Masters degree, great job, happy partner, little dog and now a real home. Not sure where the last 8 years since he first left home to go to uni have gone Couldn't be prouder of the hard working, level headed ‘man’ he’s turned into.
