Tried to get the pillion pegs off, but one bolt just won’t come out, so I’ll get them to do that at the first service next week. And will need to order a new throttle spacer, as the one from my 1260 doesn’t fit. PPF on the carbon bits tomorrow, then ride.
Yeah I found out the throttle spacer doesn’t fit from my 1260 too! Enjoy your ride tomorrow I’m sure you will love it Mines brill!
I doubt it, as I’ve got a set for my V2SF, which they say also works with the V2, and they’re much thicker.
Back home now, 620 miles on the clock, ready for the first service on Saturday. The bike is fantastic. Handling is so precise, and the bike feels so much lighter than it is, when on the move. The suspension struggles a bit on some of the rougher roads, but I’ve not played with the settings at all yet, so I may be able to fine tune that. I’m desperate to find a throttle spacer that fits, as the one from my 1260 which they say will fit, doesn’t. I’ve no idea why Ducati design bikes with the slop in the throttle, but on a less than perfect road, at low speeds, it’s a real pain in the arse, with any bump affecting the throttle, which causes jerkiness. Maybe the upmap with the full system that’s being fitted at the first service will sort that; we’ll see. If anyone has fitted a throttle spacer to their V4, please let me know which one, and I’ll get one. The power is sublime. You see a few cars in front, and think you’ll pick off two or three, but before you know it, you’ve blown past the lot. This bike loves being ridden fast. The sound with the Akra end can is good, but the full system will release the full potential. Fuel range isn’t brilliant, but that doesn’t bother me so much, as I’m normally ready for a leg stretch every few hours anyway. I wouldn’t want to sacrifice anything for more range, so am happy with it as is. I don’t ride much at night, but had to find a b&b in the middle of nowhere on Thursday night in the pitch black. The cornering LED’s are fantastic (unless you’re banked right over), and get noticed by other road users, which is always a bonus. I haven’t read the manual, as I didn’t have time before the trip, but everything is very intuitive. I’ve adjusted the menus in the order I want, have worked out how to move from the upper to the lower screen, and reset the trip computers. I wasn’t bothered about the active cruise control when I first read about it, but having used it on the motorway to the tunnel am very impressed. The only thing to bear in mind is if you’re in the slow lane approaching a middle lane hogger, and want to move into the fast lane to overtake, it will cut the power to keep the same distance from the car in front, so you have to open the throttle until you get past, then hit resume, and it then takes over again. I’m not sure if it’s a characteristic of the V4 engine/ gearbox, but it sounds quite clicky when you slow down through the gears. It’s hard to explain, but there’s a sound/ feeling I’m not used to. I’ll ask about that when I get it serviced at the weekend. Overall, I’m over the moon with the bike. I’m gutted I had to come home tbh, and if it wasn’t for the mileage limit, I’d have made my excuses and stayed in France for another night or two, and dealt with the wrath of my wife when I got home!
Glad you are enjoying and envious of your trip to France. I was supposed to be on holiday there this week, but covid put a stop to that. I don't have a PP, I have the V4S but the bike really is the ultimate distance touring machine imho.
Yep, I could have gladly stayed there for a few more days. Was just getting settled, then had to come home.
Just a thought, presumably the dash and all the settings are the same on the PP as the V4S? In which case, you can drill down through the settings menu for each of the riding modes and adjust the throttle response between smooth and dynamic. Default in Sport (and in Race on yours) is dynamic. Switching to smooth may make the difference you’re looking for. There again it may not as we each perceive these things subjectively.
In theory that should help, but it’s the physical slop that causes the jerkiness on anything but silky smooth roads.
It’s just a bit too big to fit in the gap. I may have another look, now that I have more time. Maybe filing a bit off would help.
I was looking to get the full system for my V4S but my dealer said they are illegal and advised that fitting one would invalidate my insurance , so a costly experience if you have an accident. Have you been told otherwise as I read on here that others such as the Captain chap also now not fitting a full system ? Ta
I had the throttle spacer on my 1260 and it made a difference. On the V4S, which has now done 7K miles, I feel no need to fit a spacer, my throttle is smooth in all modes and that is on some the UK's bumpiest roads. Odd that some bikes seem to have the issue and others don't.
