the beginning the end did Basingstoke Canal for the second and probably last time, 33 miles long. The towpaths have been improved at least 50% overall since my last journey so could maintain good speeds at times. I took E-bike and decided to cycle there with no motor. This was more fun than you would think and kept up with two other cyclists at around 15mph Had used bike a few days earlier stupidly so on return journey ran out of juice with 5 miles to go. that is not me in the canoe.
Legs still had a bit of lag in then from Friday's all dayer but it's just too nice to miss. So, back over the Moors, 20 off road miles and lumpy.. ..
Went out Saturday after a 3 hour hoon on the KTM. Then 2 hours of pedalling been a while since I’ve been out on my single speed. Not sure if my lad was using me to save his legs, but he pounced for the lamp post for the win
Only ever ridden a fixie in a Velodrome, fairly entertaining especially if the rider ahead forgets to keep pedalling.
First ride since I got the bastard covid, think I maybe should have chosen an easier return, got proper dizzy at the top. Slower return from now on I think.
Yes own 3 used to be 5, the best material for a push cycle IME. I have a Lightspeed which I’ve owned for several years, along with a TT bike and another road bike. Owned a couple of mountain bikes which I’ve sold on too. For comfort and durability they’re spot on, don’t rust like steel don’t chip and mark up like carbon. From memory and the little research I did do back before I bought my Lightspeed buy a shot peaned finish bike, avoid a highly polished frame. The only real problem you have is they don’t go tatty quick enough so n +1 becomes troublesome. Planet X have some good deals on Ti ATM, quick update Ribble have a good price if you don’t mind lower end transmission. https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribb...auPQolxaUwaLZsFf9IixnE3tW1xFelxhoCj1IQAvD_BwE
That's is nice. I've also been eyeing up the PX Spitfire. https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXS...e-sram-force-22-titanium-road-bike#CBPXSPITBW Kindda tempted by the Holdsworth in CF as well, although difficult to find any reviews.
Still in Aus,.. Not been out much since the dreaded covid, still not fully over it really, seems to hang on a bit, one day you feel great, the next day you feel a bit wheezy Had a little spin out to Redgate today, about a 50 miles round trip, not breaking any records for sure always like a look along Shorncliffe pier on the way back.. Noticed a load of kids in their school uniforms fishing, got talking to one of them and asked if it was some kind of a school trip, no..he says, they have just added fishing to the school sports lessons so they were all technically having a school lesson, Aussies certainly think out of the box! Almost didn’t go out today as we had a quick shower this morning, pleased I did as it turned out to be a blinding day ! Temperature holding up very nicely for their Autumn , I went to buy mesen a new pair of shorts the other day and I couldn’t find any in Myers department store, just long trousers,..so I asked the assistant where the shorts were?….” We take them off the shelves now and put the winter clothes out” ….it was 27 C outside that day ffs !! Called in at the criterium bike race track on the way back, got some great outdoor sports facilities the Aussies have and the kids are encouraged to try absolutely everything ! Laters peeps
