1200 DVT Radiator Guard Warning

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Chuggy, Apr 18, 2022.

  1. Mornings.... I found a radiator leak when I got home from a ride yesterday
pinhole spray from.near the top of the rad...behind the radiator guard fitted by a former keeper

I took the rad off this morning - surprisingly easy actually - to find the rad guard had been rubbing against the radiator and worn thru 1 gallery and almost thru 2 more!!!
There aren't any rubber pieces between the rad and the guard so ingress they were missed off or fell off

  2. I only ever fit evotech parts to bikes because everything is included and they just fit.

  3. Well that sucks. Sorry dude. Do we actually need a rad guards? I'm 60000miles in and still looks good. Are gaurds just cosmetic for the road? Do you need one? I think they stop you cleaning properly. Just my tuppence.

  4. They're deffo gonna reduce airflow thru the rad , but we tend to do a few gravelly roads and it wouldn't take much to puncture I guess
.....I've just always fitted them....and they usually show some signs of stone impact after a few rides
