Hello every hope youre good im after advice on weather you can do this . Saturday morning had a great blast on the pani passed this doing about ?? Mph didnt see it,on my return down the same road noticed it too fast to stop,so asumed im bang to rights ,worried all night and decided to drive the same route Sunday just to see , fk me what a result even though my leathers where full of poo i felt like smashing it up,very convincing but it caused me to brake hard possibly causing a bike behind to hit me.is it impersonating police or can this pub do this opinion please thanks
Is that Winchelsea? Have seen the fake speed camera there for years but the fake van wasn’t there last week so must be new. I think I’d have the same reaction you did!
Yes on the bend outside the pub is not the law the bike behind braked hard because he didn’t see what i was braking for
Sorry I meant to so the surely dosnt have the right to do that,if i put a high vis on a police cap and held a hair drier up i would get arrested
If it was real could a forward facing camera provide evidence you were speeding? Car drivers get sent a picture that shows the number plate.
If it was in the middle of a village I probably wouldn’t have a problem with it but that’s immediately on the end of a long national speed limit stretch just before a corner. I can see it causing more accidents than slowing people down ever would! Not that I’ve ever known of an accident in that spot anyway.
Not wishing to sounds sanctimonious but if you are going that quick you may wish to consider slowing down a bit on the road and taking up track days. Are buying a slower bike that feels faster.
Sorry cream done enough trackdays and respect where youre coming from but standing there for a while even the cars were braking late ,hence i think its dangerous in general because some fkn pub thinks it got the right to be a law enforcement
So we have one law breaker complaining about another law breaker. You have the makings of a Tory minister.
I would say its legal, but the council will tell you for sure...bit like having a cardboard cut out of a copper at the entrance to Poundland to try and deter the lifters.
one thing i hate is busybodies, who think they have some elevated status to enforce some rule /regulation etc.. currently an issue on the autobahn in Germany with people doing 100kph in unlimited sections.. in general speed cameras should have an amber light flashing on top to warn of the 'danger' ahead otherwise its just a revenue device ...
To be honest if the board is in the pub car park then it’s private land so doubt the law would do anything about it as they would see it as a traffic calming measure (if people are suddenly breaking and having an accident then they were travelling too fast to begin with?) That would only change if they planned to set up their own legit speed camera van around the next corner, in which case they would come down on the pub owners for terrible vengeance and interfering with police duty
10yrs ago a motorcyclist was killed when he came over the brow of an overpass here in Bournemouth and lost control and hit the crash barrier while braking due to the reaction of seeing the camera van (the speed reduces from 70 to 50 just before the overpass). He was predicted to be travelling at at least 78mph prior to coming off but witnesses said he was riding in a controlled and sensible manor prior to the accident. The inquest returned a verdict of a road accident, no apportion of cause was directed at the location of the camera van but they never sighted their vans there again?
If your going at speeds you cant slow down from in a semi urban/rural environment, then thats silly. Furthermore, if you are going at speeds and miss a bright yellow speed camera, then thats silly also. Even if it is a fake. (He says, after a bank holiday weekend where he himself was out on his pani speeding probably)
