I bought my first Ducati in 2000 (a Monster 900 ie), but since 2017 I’ve been brand loyal with a couple of Multistradas, a Scrambler 1100 and now a 950 SuperSport.
Because it was a pile of crap two full engines One Rebuilt engine One crank shaft I think my warranty claims ran to about £100k. Got fed up and handed it back. it was also the most fantastic motorbike I have ever owned.
Don’t you think you are making assumptions? What makes you think I had anything to do with it? If I did, do you think Ducati would have been paying £6500 for a crankshaft, £21,000 for a new engine and the best part of £20k for the rebuilt one ?(including the new crank) It is amusing how some people consider themselves an expert when they don’t know anything at all. I am interested in what you think happened to lead you to the conclusion that I had something to do with it.
Since Feb' '79 when I picked up my new 900SS, over the years I've owned many bikes inc' 4 Ducati's of which I still own 3 of them inc' the '79 900. Steve R
Whoa! Where did that come from? Not making any assumptions at all just asking what I thought was some jokey questions based around a dream bike? Jeez…
Over 45 years ago I bought Mick Walker's 750SS greenframe production racer. Always owned at least one Ducati ever since.
Since 1993 when I bought a new 900ss from Fontiers, Wimbledon, which I part ex’d in 1998 for a new Bip 916 which I still own and a Pani 1198 in 2016
It came from you asking what I did to go through three engines. I am not sure where you think I might find humour in that. It wasn’t a funny experience
Wasn't he the guy who ran the mail order parts catalogues in Norfolk? I seem to recall sending all my pocket money when I was rebuilding the 250 Mk III in the 70s.
Wisbech, if I remember. Is that in Norfolk? My English geography isn't that great, I've hardly ever been there Mick Walker also wrote several books about Ducatis, I have a few.
Hard to know what to say to that. I was simply in admiration of your ownership of a dream bike & asking what I thought was a related question. Sorry to offend
You didn't miss much not visiting Wisbech in Cambridgeshire, other than pike fishing I find the fens pretty grim
I’m a newbie. Bought mine in December 2019 so compared to most I’m extremely new. People who own more than one Ducati must be in the way to financial ruin!
7 years til I sold the 959 last year. Can’t see me getting another one if prices (everywhere!) continue to rise. Nearly bought a 350 bullet last month to pootle around locally on this summer but enthusiasm waned with that eventually too. Never say never though.
