Exhaust mix 'n' match?

  1. I'm considering using a different can with the full Termi exhaust pipework, I guess the odds of a straight swap are slim but if dimensions for different after market cans/pipes could be posted I'll be grateful :D

    Full Termi pipes dimensions (mm):
    Can
    ID: 606
    OD 604
    Pipe
    ID: 601
    OD: 603
....the can sits over/outside the exhaust pipe and is held tight by a spring (no clamp)

  2. Andy know I read somewhere that the Mivv Ghibli is 60mm at the inlet and 50mm at outlet, but blow me down if I can find the link again...will keep on looking!

  3. WHY are you thinking of changing the can Andy.....too long ? I didnt do mine myself but the previous owner cut it down and I think it looks a hell of a lot better, but thats my opinion ;)

  4. I'm familiar with the Full Termi cutdown mod , like the look of the shorter can and was very tempted to do it but decided against in the end (affect on value as and when I sell the bike). That said I'm happy enough with the look of the unaltered can, fits the proportions of the bike and looks less OTT with the larger hugger fitted (well carbon replacement:)
No, the reason is I'm just thinking ahead to MOT time next year, the full Termi can is marked 'only for race use'.......no idea why Ducati/Termignoni can't make the effort to have it 'approved', it's quieter than some after market systems for the MTS12 I've heard that do carry the BS/EU or whatever approval!

  5. Andy. Grind it away and polish up. If there are no markings it will be fine. It's tester discretion. I've heard hogs that in my opinion are stupidly loud pass tests and I don't think they make a nice twin noise. Fit baffle for test.

  6. Well I could not find the weblink again, so I went and measured the stock cans:

    End Can....OD 48.5mm ID 45.5mm
    Cat box...OD53mm ID 49mm

Now the stock end can fits on the Mivv de cat pipe, so one can safely say that the Mivv de cat pipe is 49mm ID and anything with an outer diameter of 49mm or slightly less will fit on the mivv de cat!

  7. Thanks for that Fritz.....so MIVV cans are crossed off the list.

I've read of a few 'tricks' over the years but tbh I just can't bring myself to try that sort of thing............and (to be even more honest) I'm also looking at changing the Termi can just for another reason........kinda for the sheer heck of it as I'm addicted to change/experimentation! :-O

  8. Hi Andy,
It took me few attempts to get to my current set up and here is how I got there:

    1. From new I installed the Termi-Stubby with the standard exhaust system =results=> there was no engine sound and it felt too quiet for London :)
    2. Installed the MiVV decat system together with my Termi-Stubby =results=> tooooo loud for London, I put up with and no one complained. Even when i got pulled over by the police, they did not mention the noise!!
    3. Tried the BR Specialist baffle =results=> I did not like the sound, it did not baffle much and I felt it held back the throttle when I open it up
    4. Replaced the Termi-Stubby with GPR Carbon Can and the results are amazing. Great sound, good looking and finish quality and to your point its road "legal", comes with insert baffle if you need to reduce the engine sound.

I like the sound, look and performance of the GPR with Decat system. Hope this helps
    W
