Went out on the scrambler for a few hours today. I was going to go out on the Bayliss but decided against it as it was too cold first thing to wear just leathers (and I don’t wear textiles on a sports bike) despite the sunshine. Plus I thought I’d add to the “wear and tear” of the old bike before it gets chopped in next Wednesday
Pretty sure Givi make a number of the luggage solutions marketed by Ducati and yes, my tank bag does look like the Ducati one without the Ducati branding and yes it is cheaper from the Sportsbikeshop but not £25, a more healthy £40 Andy
managed to remove theft-damaged top yoke on UglyStrada today and can now start to build up new one. By far the easiest way to do this if you have neck or back problems is to completely remove all 3 clamp screws, and then carefully insert a (preferably soft(wood/aluminium)) slender wedge in all 3 slits, it's the centre of the 3 that needs the wedge really driven in some, and then yoke can be removed easily by hand, exerting equal pressure on left and right as you slid it upward, but even so, I still managed to tweak my neck, so have taken half a Smartie.
Sold my trusty workhorse Honda CBF500 today, a great bike built like the proverbial and would survive a nuclear bomb .
Took the Scrambler Sports original standard exhaust system over to Ducati Manchester so they can refit it to my bike next Wednesday when they take off the Termignoni race system off it for my new bike
Had a quick walk to…. Ducati Brisbane It was pretty warm today, about 26c and humid as f,..it’s about an hour’s walk heading into the city from where my daughter lives and I had denim shorts on, so my spuds were boiling by the time I got there ! Hey @El Toro ..one of your Bayliss’ssssss Good selection of bikes inside, interestingly 4 unregistered V4 Streetfighter’s but no sign of any V2’s ?? Is this a Foggy replica?..hiding in the corner?? Good selection of clothing and helmets upstairs.. And plenty of Ducati memorabilia and tat to spend thee brass on ! But by far and away the nicest bike in the dealership,..this one !! Could have blown my pension there and then Now normally I likes my Ducati’s in red, but this is definitely a looker in the satin black, looks very……sinister The sort of bike you’d imagine Batman riding! So I asked one of the sales guys “ oww much mista” ….$57,000 dollah, came the reply Now at today’s exchange rate ( $1.78 aud to gbp ) that works out at just over £32 grand, iirc aren’t they £34 / 35 grand in the UK ?? Mind you GST ( government sales tax ) is only 10% over here as opposed to our 20% VAT , so I noticed that most of the bikes are cheaper than in the UK. After talking to the sales guys for about 2hrs about bikes they finally got bored of me and threw me out in the street and told me not to come back ! Oh, I filled the car up the other day, petrol,…works out at 87 pence per litre!! Diesel is a few pennies over a quid per litre Laters peeps
Decided to fit a gold DID chain to me V4S Multley. This is mid fitting coffee break . Still need to clean lube crap off the plastic trim bits b4 refitting and set tension. Old chain not knackered but side plates were a tad rust stained as unplated from new and chain wax’s don’t really do rust prevention unlike the old chain greases (when lathered on).
Yeah it had been used, probably in for first service, no idea what the number was?,… 21 I think ,..says so in big numbers on the side Did notice that it was heavily modified,…..red sock on the brake reservoir
