Ok so the attached happened; the negative tab has busted. As a workaround, shall i get a fly cable from halfords and attached to the battery and the crankcase and tape up the end of the existing? https://www.halfords.com/motoring/b...44BRER97*MTY1MTMyMDAyNy4xLjEuMTY1MTMyMDA1MS4w Longer term is it possible to crimp a new fixing onto the cable/wires with the right size fixing and crimping tool or should i just get this http://www.exact-start.com/
Stuart put a lot of development into his Exact cables and the cable I fitted to my 1098R certainly worked, if a bit of a PITA to fit as it piggy backed the original cable, not replace it. IMO, the Halfords cable in your link isn't man enough to resolve your issue. That said, appropriate cable and better terminations are available commercially so you could make your own, if you have the crimping tool. MYO would be my choice. Andy
my slight issue is that im booked on a TD for next thurs and i wont be able to get stu's kit until then if not later
given the cable/wires are intact, what about removing whats left of the original termination and replacing with a new termination as my mate has the correct crimping tool
Fitted Exact starter cables to my 1200s,as another post say the are a bit fiddly to fit but well worth the trouble, bike sounds totally different when turning over, much more urgent….recommended
If there is enough cable left, then it would seem your best option. That or bump starting it like they used to in the olden days of shillings and White socks over ya boots. Bump started a 851 back in the day, requirements are a fit peep to push and a fat git to ‘bump’.
given the cable is rated at 110a at 12v why would it not be man enough? i thought as a temp solution it would work. i did speak to stu earlier he said his kit would need both terminations in situ whereas my negative has snapped off leaving just the cable end which ideally needs a new termination crimped on
