Hi guys, I had some time off these past two days do I decided to work on the 900ss (1992). changed belts, new end cans, fitted the carbs and I was ready to fire her up. Tried to start her but she wouldn’t fire and I noticed the battery was getting flat so I turned the ignition key off but I could hear the starter motor still trying to fire the bike. I tried to turn the key on and off but it made no difference. Starter motor still engaged and battery going flat. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I reconnected few times and it triggered the starter motor until trying one last time and it stopped and seemed normal, just dead battery now. battery is now on charge and I will try tomorrow to start her again. has anyone experienced something similar or has an idea what it can be? thanks chaps and good bank holiday weekend everyone!
Off on a tangent, but I bought an 1100 Multi recently, and the first time it did not fire up immediately it just kept turning over without pressing the button. I thought the solenoid had stuck on, but I learned it is supposed to do that. The wonders of modern (to me) technology!
Managed to finally start the bike and went for a short ride. Adjusted the mixture screws and also tried to synchronise the carbs. The bike runs almost perfectly although when slow moving she chokes a bit, I recon another half turn of the mixture screws. The solenoid instead did that weird thing again and discovered that if I hit the solenoid with a small object (including tapping with fingers) it stops misbehaving. I ordered a new one anyways and will change it soon. Happy overall and can’t wait to MOT her.
start assist. One press and it does the rest. Confused me on my Fugley 1000ds. I find everything confuses me nowadays.
