Hi, I'm just prepping for my Streetfighter V2's first service tomorrow, and went to grab the Service Book to collect the stamp, and I can't find it - I have the user manual and other gubbins, so it should be with that if there is one. It's quite possible it's all recorded online these days, but it would be nice for future owners to be able to inspect stamps, and collect stamps from non-dealer workshops. Do new bikes not come with a service book these days?
Not that it’s the same manufacturer, my KTM has no service history booklet at all. It’s all kept on computer these days, how you prove history when selling is I guess buyer rings the dealer quoting registration details.
My Multi has the service book but I noticed first owner details not filled in, asked the question and the dealer said ‘they don’t use the service book any longer all details registered on line with the service history’ .... bit like an Audi I suppose. Always liked a nice stamped service book ☹️
Thanks both. I always keep all receipts etc, but I shall definitely need those as proof of professional servicing now.
My 2015 hyper had a book but the dealer never stamped, and with the 2020 scrambler there was no book, dealer confirmed all is recorded online and they keep the full history. Bummer of you do your own servicing, but there you go.
I think that the servicing will show in the 'My Ducati' app so when selling can show that and, I guess, that would move to the new owner if you sell it and they install the app.
I'm with you on this one, the stamp has the wow vision impact for the owner / seller, but i guess that's the way the cookie crumbles these days...........oh what a plastic world we live in now.
My MY22 V2S does not have a service book in the Pack. Its all visible online in your Ducati account apparently.
The closest I can reference is my Panigale V2 which was purchased Feb 2020. That had a service book still, but it may well have been the last year they were doing it. I normally keep all the receipts and stuff, because in the case of my R1 for example, the dealer stamps are in the book, but I have all the receipts and can go back and see when brake pads were added to the service, when the chain was done exactly etc.
Ducati apps etc... are ok if you only use a Ducati main dealer. What if a bike is out of warranty and a number of years old and you want to use an indepndant specialist? Whom of which some are a lot better than Ducati main dealers....
Ducati don't care about any bikes more than six years old, once they fall outside of a possible PCP agreement! I'm afraid the days of Ducati caring about any kind of heritage are behind us now, the new Obersturmbahnfuhrers at Audi will move everything to be in line with their particular company practices, I see this in the bikes as well as their business model.
I’ve got a 3 year old Monster, been serviced 3 times but my Ducati app says only had 600 mile service. Surely it’s easier for the, or any dealer to stamp a book than register the service on line. Progress, I don’t think so..a nice book I can quickly check service history, ahhh the good old days.
It seems odd that they still give an owners manual, when most other brands don’t, yet a service booklet that is a fraction of the thickness (and cost) has been omitted, while other brands continue to give a physical service booklet. Those crazy Italians!
