Three currently A dead old Shoei black full face A lovely retro style Roof Daytona silver/ black stripe And my touring all bells and whistles shuberth flip front in matt green/ bronze I’ve had loads of lids prior to this but with 42 years in the saddle they’ve got lost over time, along with my memory!
The RX 7V took some breaking ! They are quite basic really. All the outside bits broke off quickly - the air vent ducting over the top of the lid came off and there are just some holes drilled in the helmet - two at the front, two at the back and two on the side - that is the ventilation. Again with the vent in the chin bar is a plastic piece that eventually came out to reveal a a hole cut out in the chin bar to accommodate it - pretty basic technology really. Once all of this stuff come off you are left with a very tough round outer shell - very hard it seemed to me. Very tough. Inside there were different colour or densities of foam, so that was good to see. Overall it took some harsh punishment very well. The foam inside is good quality of different densities. I was amazed at how basic is the underlying design - a very tough outer shell of the highest standard with a few holes drilled in it to provide some kind of ventilation like some kind of after thought rather than an integral part of its original design But anyway, certainly tough. This is the one I kept:
Hmmm Trials open face helmet Airoh Motocross style Scorpian A Schubert full face AGV Veloce full face Nexx open face
That's the spirit ! My new one was delivered to work today - to be fair some were interested in the technology. That seems to be the way - you might have only a couple now, but there are quite a few that have already been got rid of for one reason or another. Those Roof lids seem quite popular. Never though of buying one as I always seem to go with the "traditional" brands.
I’ll Let you know what I think of the Roof Boxxer 9 once I’ve had a good few rides in it. First thing I’ve noticed though is you can’t put it on or off with it being in full face position, but the system is quick and easy to operate so not really a problem
