Panigale V4 Fork Springs

  1. Hi guys.
    I’ve got a base model v4 with ohlins FKR front forks and I use the bike for Trackdays . I weigh 80kg : I had 10’s in and it kept bottoming out. I’ve now got 10.5’s in with a reduced air gap and it’s still bottoming out. Next step is to put in 11’s .
    Ohlins say 10’s are what my weight requires…
    What’s your opinion guys? 11’s sound a bit to strong for an 80kg rider or is the V4 like that? What experiences have you guys had with setting up the suspension on the Panigale v4?

  6. No never got it sorted….
    Suspension actually feels amazing. It’s just bottoming out and seems to chew up from tyres.
    10.5 springs in the front . I’m only 80kg. Was going to add an one 11 spring to give it some support.
     
  7. I would maybe get a set up first, doesn’t sound right! You’ve got Pete Clifford up by Caldwell, Colin at 100% Leicestershire, Mark Hammond in Bath area all of which are top level and trustworthy ! I’m sure the other guys on here have equally good recommendations too! I was having similar issues a few years ago on a zx10 and turned out to be a set up issue!

  8. I had it set up…
    It a actually feels pretty amazing when im riding it.
    It “seems” like it needs a stronger springs from the look of the cable tie on the fork leg.
    I was curious what fork springs most people are using on their V4’S?
    Do V4’S need stronger springs than most bikes? Ohlins are adamant that I should be using 10’s not 10.5s .
     
  9. Could well be set up or even an issue with the fork itself. Without seeing them it’s hard to say.

    Are you maxed out on any of the adjusters?

    springs depend entirely on your riding style and pace as well as the subjective side of it.

    i had endless front end issues on my race bike when I was racing, turned out I’d run the whole season with no preload adjustment. That is to say that the preload was doing nothing nor was the rebound :joy: the thing was like a pogo stick.
    Did a 1:43 round Oulton on that 600 with the forks like that. That’s my fav pub statement :punch:

  10. Forks were brand new assembled by Harris racing . preload is at 13 clicks . Comp 10
    rebound 11.
    Was thinking that one single 11 spring will give it the little support it needs…
     

  11. How many clicks are there in the ohlins?

    with ktec it’s only the first however many clicks that actually do anything. Not sure if ohlins is the same tbf..

  14. They went in for a service at the end of the season and the tech realised. Not good tbh as they’d been in to be checked atleast three times because I was unhappy with them.

    nightmare !

  18. Mine is the V4r so different forks ! I’m not sure what springs they fit as stock! I’ll find out! After set up it’s spot on both track and road! Braking hard at end of straight Porto no dramas and yesterday on the road I had an incident which required probably my hardest ever bit of stopping:astonished: rear wheel was way up in the air but got it stopped! (Just) lol set up is key!

  19. I’m pretty sure the V4R has the same forks . The “FKR” forks .
    My cable tie goes all the way to the bottom like yours….
     
  20. I don’t think I’ve ever braked that hard even when racing and even though as you can see they were compressed they didn’t bottom out so I’m fine with that! Are yours actually bottoming out or just close to?
