Hi all, I’m doing my own services…but I am unsure on the diagnostics side. Is there anyone in the Bristol area that has the software/cables to connect with a 2015 1200s monster for oil service light reset? I’m also willing to take advice on what to buy so that I can do it myself, but my searches so far have been ambiguous.
Been asking the same thing and doing a lot of research but there is nothing out there (for sensible money) that can do the job. JHS Racing in Kaynsham will not do it for you unless they service the bike themselves. Louigi Moto at Clutton Hill will do it for you, they were going to charge me £40 for a reset and diagnostic check up. If you do find a DIY solution can you let me know as I prefer to do all my own servicing at home.
Yea that’s the feeling I’m getting. From what I can ascertain jpdiag is incompatible and melcodiag doesn’t allow you to reset the service interval. I may be wrong but as I say there are conflicting threads. I remember with previous bikes Lonelec are very helpful, I’ll go down that route next and will feedback here. Riders of Bristol reset my 848 for me, I think that was £20-30.
Last time I asked Riders Bristol was told £25 to reset service. However I've now successfully reset using melco diag (2014 multi)
A friend has the BMW version of this and it appears to do eveything. He's had a few Beemers over the last 10 years, so it's worked out in the long run... https://www.bmdiag.co.uk/obdstar-iscan-ducati-motorcycle-diagnostic-tool The spreadsheet download shows all the models it (allegedly!) covers... @pasty PFC - Riders reset service light... No argument about them not doing the service, or did they not care as it was long out of warranty?
I've tried the Melcodiag cables and software and the M1200 is not compatible with it. I have the BMW motoscan software and module, does almost everything perfectly but so far have not found anything that works on my Monster.
I don’t remember there being any questions or reluctance. As you say it was a 2008 bike so long out of warranty.
Do you mean the OBDStar module mentioned above by Keith_P? If so what does/doesn’t it do? I mailed them yesterday and the response was that it’s fully compatible…
No mate, the OBDStar should work at £370, I tried the melcodiag. If you do buy a OBDStar do you want a new best friend?
I posted this back in February https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/service-reset-tool-software.89802/#post-1938059
Just a thought - Bristol branch of the DOC may have one or be willing to organise a group purchase Update: I've asked the question on the Bristol DOC FB page...
How about this for an idea? I buy it, then anyone on the forum who wants to use it can borrow it from me? £20 for the first job, then free thereafter. That way people in the Bristol area have free access to the tool and I recover some of what I’ve put down.
I just ‘tried’ to by a snap on solus edge that also covers motorcycles in the latest software update. But at £2000 for the machine and around £350 for each manufacturer specific lead it’s a little pricey. Luckily for me my snap on dealer really can’t be bothered to sell me one.
Unfortunately no response from the local DOC. You idea sounds good - I'd happily give you £20 to use it if I needed to, and I expect that others might do too. I could 'promote' its availability on the FB DOC page as well if you like. Let me know if you decide to go ahead & buy...
