Multistrada 950s 2 years old with run in miles. Short ride out today and when in 2nd gear letting the bike break down a hill I got a knocking/clang sound which happened twice. I thought it was the side or centre stand but not so sure. I’m really not mechanical minded so thought id ask. Cheers
could be a good call on centre stand, don't know your bike so hopefully another owner will comment:- when you pull down centre stand a few inches, and release, does it clang? - I know earlier models had a rubber buffer fitted just for this purpose and would have thought yours also. Also, when listening out in the future, try and see if it coincides with potholes etc, if round here, then easy to find.
Just checked. Stand seems fine and yes rubber buffer fitted. Definitely not potholes as lucky we have new tarmac down here
I agree, the 1200’s had a rubber stopper on the centre stand, easily wears out or falls off, if yours has one doubt it’s worn out but may be missing? Oh, not that then…….
Sounds like a final drive issue to me. Are there any stiff links and is the tension good in more than one place, i.e. around the run of the chain? Cush drive rubbers perished, though wouldn't expect that at low miles/age.
Ive just put it on the centre stand and revved it for a minute and it knocks when the revs drop. So not the chain?
