Having a bit of trouble getting 1997 sps to run after many years slumber. It seems to lose ignition/spark until it has been reved a few times. Has had new T. P. S fitted, plugs, coils, crank sensor, pick-up coils, igniter boxes, ecu have all been checked. Wondering is chip needs changing or is possibly the wrong for the sps carbon cans, think road cans different chip? Road cans look like never been on bike so doubt that, bikes been well used in past so guessing was OK. Maybe it just needs riding again to sort it out, my independent guy is about done with ideas & I'm itching to ride it!!! Who's the guru for this kinda stuff in South of England?
How far south? Loiugimoto Bristol way, think Steve Hilary may still be doing some Ducati work down further south Paul Goodall PG Performamve knows these motors like very few others, would be my first choice, Eastleigh way
I'm just outside North London, might try getting it home from mechanic in East London first. Then licking my wounds before shipping it out again!
Not sure if Mike Dawson racing is still trading, ex P&H technician iirc doing mainly Ducati work and think he was west london??
I'm hoping my guy has done all this when installing new tps I bought from well known member (ex?) on here.
Well, you know hope is not enough… Was it really done? Because it does improve a lot of things when injection is properly set.
Try Glen at Moto v he's based a couple of miles off the A12 before Colchester, he's been servicing both my bikes for around 7 years now. moto-v.co.uk – Moto-v – Fordham, Essexhttp://www.moto-v.co.uk
Managed to source a genuine Ducati n.o.s chip and for £50 +postage it's a cheap elimination if nothing else....fingers crossed
Kevin, may I ask you where you sourced it? I am looking for a #057 chip for my SP3. It is fitted with a 056 right now (45/45) whereas the bike comes with a 45/50 exhaust from factory (I believe that was SIMA’s trick to get them homologated when max power was still limited to 100 hp in France). I did get a NOS #058 with the bike, but I have to intention to go 50/50 on this bike. Thanks in advance! G
