  2. France is a rather large country compared to Britain, but that car has skrunk washed it out.

  3. You can’t beat a 1969 American muscle car in the middle of the Pommard vineyard. Best of both world. Too bad we can’t drink and drive… Right?

  4. Yes, and for those who haven’t riden through the Gorges recently (like this past five years or so), they have completely repaved the road with brand new super quality tarmac. It’s dark black, with a flashy white middle doted line. 30 miles of pure SBK bliss! This road used to be so scary and dangerous, I quit riding it 15 years ago…

Now, you still have rocks and gravel here and there, goats crossing, boys racers, and during the touristic season, buses, RVs and canoe vans with there bloody trailers. So beware, as you can now ride considerably faster in there. A small mistake will see you take the infamous 1000ft dive into oblivion…

  5. Haven’t been in over 20 years, went there for the rock climbing April time as the weather in our original destination Orpierre was rained/snowed off.

  6. The good old days when you could drive there and back, but rightly so they cleaned up the rules for us motorists. It just a shame they can't control stupid moblie phone users.

  7. Holy Molly! :astonished:

Totally different bike with these new rims. Feels so much lighter and agile in the corners. I no longer feel limited by how quick I can manage to lean the bike when entering a tight corner a little too fast. The new limit seems to be the tires grip…

I actually feel like I am a much better rider now! :D

  8. They also look fantastic! Can I ask a roughly how much a set like that would cost?

  9. I got these for 1900€ (£1600) with brand new Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 mounted, no rotors. They look absolutely mint. Problem with magnesium is it doesn’t age too well (prone to corrosion) and you can’t see what’s happening inside unless you X-Ray them. And it’s very difficult to ask a seller to X-Ray his wheels for you. Anyways, by the time you ask, they will be sold to someone else… So there’s a non negligible risk associated with such a purchase, I am afraid.

That’s when you can get hold of a set, of course, as they don’t pop up very often…

  10. I'm normally a bit of a purist, but they look really good on a 916.

  11. Well, they are almost period correct. Below are two snapshots of the 2003 DP parts catalog.;)

  14. I love sailing across « the pond ». A ferry would be practical to reach the main hall, but sailing is way more stylish.

More seriously, this little village is called La Clayette and is surrounded by beautiful roads linking Burgundy to Beaujolais. Touring on a north to south axis, west of the Saône and Rhône rivers, you could factor this area in your roadbook.

  16. Thank you for an amazing read & motivation to get some bits bought & a bike on the lift. Those wheels, dear lord, set of an already amazing machine. Lovely work. I have a couple in dire need of repair if you ever get bored!

  17. The « good » thing, with Ducatis, is that you never get bored…

Leaving in a week for a 4 days group ride. That’s usually the moment of truth in terms of reliability…

  20. Just over 2 years ago I bought a brand new pair of Mag' Hollow 3 Spoke Marvic's (6" rear rim) for my 955cc 851.
They cost me around £2.5K inc 3 alloy sprockets for altering the gearing.
They were the last part of the jigsaw to get the fully wet weight down to 350 lbs, with 140 rwbhp.
    Bring on the 916/996's!
