Just dropped my Multi off for a service, just a quick question, has anyone ever had their Multi re-mapped? If so why and what did it do for the bike's performance and was it worth it? Cheers.

Thanks, what'd it do for your bike, did it give it extra power or was it more of a smoother throttle response the reason you mapped it?
Unless you have added some performance mod, such as a decat.. you are not gonna see lots of extra power from a remap. Yes, they are set up loosely, but with 160bhp on tap ... not THAT loosely from the factory
Yes i had a full de-cat system and with the standard mapping it ran poor. I smoothed out throttle response and the bike was a joy to ride after that. As stated by Hootowl if it's standard then more power is going to be hard to achieve, and anyway it's standard power is plenty!!
I agree with you, it was just someone at the servicing mentioned mapping and I wondered what it could do for my standard 2017 1200S DVT, sounds like its something I do not need tbh...
First gem single spark need a map. One the TA and DVT didn’t really. And dvt seems quite a difficult one to map
I've been thinking the same with my DVT. I don't need anymore power but the flat spot from around 4800-6000 rpm is something I'd love to eliminate. I don't have the de-cat though, just a termi slip on.
Been here and have researched this. Basically the DVT is hard to remap. There are a few that can now unlock the ECU and modify the standards map. Someone like https://www.desmoshed.co.uk/ Offer a remap by Rexxer. I ended up buying a full Termignoni system from Italy with the upmap key. I then got Protwins to up load it. The result? 100% better.
Cheers, it just sounds like something I do not need tbh for myself, I’ll just stick to the service and dismiss the mapping option.
pretty sure Chris hasnt been able to crack the ECU on DVT, he had my bike for weeks, a few years ago, and wasnt able to do it and has never been in touch to say this is now possible
Seems like the 17 year airbox upgrade make a difference? Might be worth doing when changing the air filter.
Chris at CJS can do them - Both cylinders individually - Charges £425 and the whole thing starts at 10:30 and takes until 5pm so you need a packed lunch !! The whole thing involves multiple Dyno runs to ensure the best outcome The workshops has a tea room and internet etc Ive had multiple bikes done by Chris all with fantastic results Just checked with him to make sure
That’s not mapped. It’s just adding a different standard map on the ecu. World of difference imho, not saying it doesn’t have merit but not mapping
To get the bike properly mapped it needs to go to a tuner with a Dyno. Each bike is different and each cylinder will require its own individual settings. The advent of these “emailed” maps is of absolutely no use as they are all generic and not tailored for your bike. I know a tuner that does this on Audi cars. He sends the data to the “tuner” by email and they “analyse” it and send the tuned map back. This is absolute poppy cock because the map that comes back is generic. The guy buys them in for £3 and sells the service for £300. Nobody should entertain any of these off the shelf solutions. If you can afford the bike you should give it the best possible tuning solution and this wont be an emailed map
I think there is merit in some, like a DP map with termi system as it makes it less likley to be too rich/lean and cause potential engine damage over time. But not much else
Absolutely. Get a Rapidbike unit. It's fully user adjustable and will definitely solve the dip in your powerband. It will add a couple of ponies also. Here's by buddy's dyno result of his 1200 DVT with an RB unit (darker page) vs my stock 1260. Dyno runs were taken less than a hour apart.
