One great viewing spot is just after the braking point for the nook (the right / left corner before governors bridge) - if you get there early enough you can sit on top of the gate post and the bikes are literally a foot away - the raw violence of the air being torn apart as they pass - you can even feel the heat from the bikes as the pass beneath you... Unfortunately last time I was there there was a bunch of pricks there who wouldn't even let a couple of first time island visitors hop up for a look...
You're not alone pal. I've been loads of times and I'm just the same as the first time, a giddy fool, full of nerves and excitement hahaha. When do you go? We go out next Friday afternoon, hopefully catch the back end of Friday practice. Then we're into race week.

I’m over there now. Staying at a campsite near Kirk Michael. Weather has started picking up but also so has the crowds. Hoping to get a run in over the mountain tomorrow on the V4. It’s still two way at the moment so not going crazy. I see fairy bridge has been demolished by an out of control HGV a couple of days ago. Hope that’s not an omen for this year !!

The true story is that it's not good luck to say hello or bad luck not to - the Ferrishyn are quote "A short, dark, uncouth, supernatural creature" and you are saying hello to distract them from doing something bad to you. I'm guessing the guys in the HGV didn't believe and it is rumoured that Ferrishyn managed to get a few RPG's from an IRA weapons cache.
Ill be arriving in Douglas early Tuesday morning with the wife on the back. Am there for 2 weeks. Am also a TT first timer!! Cant wait.
I went for the first time in 1978 as a teenager on my Dad's Suzuki GS850. Arrived early and followed my ears to the track at Bray Hill. Got chatting to a marshal who asked if I wanted to follow him round at the end of practice, as his role was to "re-open the road for two-way traffic". Sure, why not Off he went on his CX500.....with a pillion. To say I struggled to keep up is an understatement, but I did . Thirty minutes of total madness later and I was back at Bray Hill again. Welcome to the Isle of Man.......
The Fairy Bridge that we (the TT goers/fans) know and wave to isn't actually the real/original Fairy Bridge. The original one lives down a green lane much closer to Douglas. Check out your Manx history to find out where the real one is... Steve R
Also my first TT but we’re only doing a day with a flight over early morning on the 6th. A last minute decision and a big gamble on reliable flights and the weather but it’s worth a go!

Hi All, I am a Manxman born and bred, but now living in Ireland, I am loving reading the comments here and the excitement building for you guys, I just bought my first Ducati, a Streetfighter 848. I'm not going over this year but will be next. I just want to say one thing, the roads and mountain are roads like any other if you get my drift, Respect them and you will have the best time of your life on them. I did laugh when i saw the comment about " Don't race anything with a Manx reg, lol. The Cops on the Island take no shit, a lot brought over from the mainland nowadays for the TT also. A lot are bikers like you and me, so respect them and their jobs and you be fine. Also, mistake made by many of people that i used to meet was " Oh , you're from the Isle of Man, They have no speed limits there do they " Yes they do and you will get nicked. So most of all just stay safe and enjoy yourselves, you will want to go back trust me, and you will oh yes you will, lol.
Windy Corner is a good place to watch on a nice day. Take drink and lunch with you though as it's a long ole hike back. Try to get inside the course, and if you're on something like a GS then you can take all the (very nice) spidery roads and get all over the island while roads are closed. Brandywell isn't a bad spot. Getting up to Windy Corner up an unmade rocky road was pretty good fun, didn't fancy going down it again though so parked up until the roads reopened. Parking at The Bungalow and walked up the hillside back toward Ramsey to net a pretty good spot for the Senior too. For reference... You can get a pint at Union Mills while you watch but you need a faster lens than an iPhone I have massive FOMO this year... wish I was there
