  1. Best to try first, although if you’ve been going to the area for years you’ll have a pretty good idea.

    Good luck and pack sunscreen!

  2. Brother in law and wife did exactly that…..bought a 2 bed place near Mojacar, went back and forth for a few years then sold up in Derby and bought a fabulous massive place close by (5 beds, all en-suite, great pool, jacuzzi, granny bungalow on the 20 acres that went with it)

They’ve probably been in this place since 2002, thinking about it. They threw themselves into the lifestyle 110%…..learning the language, mixing with the locals, doing work for and with the locals etc etc You ge5 the picture.

Anyway they’ve just sold up (for only €100k more than they paid for it) and they’re coming back to Blighty as it’s not been the dream they thought it was going to be for several reasons.

The point being that having a place in the sun for occasional jaunts to during the year is one thing, but actually living there is another completely.

  12. Similar experience in France. Bought in 2003, load of work, trading labour for labour. Kept the Uk houses, thankfully. Makes an income and house prices in the UK have soared in 20 years. French prices no way near UK inflation rates. Had I ploughed everything into the French property I’d have struggled to cover returning to UK at a standard I had in 2003.
Been great though. Love Provence and having family and friends down. Now limited after Brexit to 90 days in a rolling 180 without a visa or residency.
    Pros and cons.

  13. Ours was meant to be Sunday, but it got moved to today due to the weather. We’d already made plans for the weekend, so had to miss it.

  14. The mind was working overtime and bottom was on beach relaxing, the bike was upright at speed so it was just a case of hang on to the bars & hope you get through the otherside in one piece, the carbon mudguard was all ok when i arrived home, so i guessing with speed the bird was forced to one side.
