The marmite seat ? You either love it or hate it. I do have the original seat as well but I kinda like the divisiveness of this one.
I finally had a day where it felt like I got some things done on my Superlight. Finally finished installing the airbox, including a newly cleaned/oiled K&N filter. I'm not a huge fan of them but it seems hard to buy a 900ss these days that doesn't have one installed. This one came with a cut lid but I'm going with an intact lid with no snorkels that I had bought for the track bike. I've also got a couple aluminum rings I could go with but previous experience says I detest how loud an open intake is on these bikes. The track bike can be loud since I won't ever be on it for more than 20 minutes at a time. I ordered new coils when I found out the pair I have are stock on early bikes. They unexpectedly showed up while I was working on the regulator wiring so they were on the bike within an hour of getting here. They came with plug wires and plugs so they're replaced too. The battery is in position and I know how I want to hold it down, but it involves 3D printing something which means using Fusion 360 which so far has been hugely frustrating to me. It doesn't work like the CAD software I used before so things that used to be easy are now confusing... but I guess I'll get over it. Or I'll just drill a hole in the battery box and put a zip tie around it. That worked on the 851. And now that I've written it down it doesn't seem like all that much but the airbox was a big deal to me and feels like a big step forward. I put a new front sprocket on too, so there's a two minute job out of the way. The chain it came with had a clip style master link, which isn't my favorite. So a new chain and sprockets were ordered. The old stuff can go on the trackbike, I was going to order new gearing for that one anyway.
No doubt both riders are six foot four & full of muscles, which would look very funny on such small bikes.
We do tend to get a lot of laughs when we take our lids off, as people are expecting us to be much younger than we are!
i have persuaded the lad that we need to trade in his Aprilia come early September while he works through getting his driving licences. (he wants a Suzuki carry 4x4 ) so, it appears i am putting a deposit down on Monday on a new 125. a small price to pay if it means i get my weekends back. so i guess their will be a crf125 and sx50 (80) coming on the market vvsoon. nice.
hmm. yip, i can see several places where you could mount a banjo on one of them. but yer right, the best (in terms of maintenance and repair bills) the best cars we ever had were the grand Vitara the wife used. even she couldn't brake it. but the last straw with the aprillia was in the last two weeks i have repaired an indicator ( a brand new one) with a broken wire inside the unit. a speed sensor that's on order @£107. the exhaust is requiring a weld or replaced. i will probably just order today and the freeking headlight is still blowing bulbs a fault which i think i am beginning to narrow down. no fecker told me they are wired AC rather than DC. the regulator is new so there must be some kind of ballast resistor in the circuit. oh what i would give for a wiring diagram.
this is what happens to a kid that works part time with a building company. he now wants to be a machine operator/general builder and drive a flatbed.
