Morning all, Quick question for a newbie bike builder - struggling to source a complete fuel pump assembly to fit a 749/999 tank and have found someone quoting £400 to build me one using reconditioned parts (new fuel pump though I believe) Does this sound about right to you lot? Thanks in advance
How much would a new pump be from Ducati ? I've no idea, but £400 sounds a lot to me for a reconditioned one
I presume that it's the complete assembly that needed, the flange with the pump, filter, regulator and other bits. I couldn't find price for a new 749/999 one which is sold as a complete assembly. For an ST, which is very similar, the bits are available separately and will cost over £1000. On eBay there doesn't appear to be any in the UK for sale but this on in the US is similarly priced at £373 + £35 carriage. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174498240908?hash=item28a0e7d98c:g:KAkAAOSwpdpVdOIv A new pump on it's own from Ducati is £189. So £400 for the complete assembly with a new pump fitted doesn't seem unreasonable
so this is for the full assembly, pump, filter, flange etc - figured it would be more than just the pump price but didn’t expect it to be up around the £400 mark. New to custom bike building on fuel injected bikes so everything seems pretty pricey!
Thanks mate, yeah saw those US complete sets on eBay but that’s my only frame of reference £1000 for an ST set that’s a third of the cost of a second hand bike..! Makes the comment about buying a 749 and breaking seem less extreme now Thanks for all your comments, really appreciated
