Could you imagine having the wheel out and it falling off those blocks - I'd just shut the garage door and pretend it didn't happen!
yeah I’ll be honest I ordered in feb and received in august. He did have a supplier issue and I wasn’t in a hurry as I was at work from October last year until end of July anyway. Contact is definitely his issue. Hopefully now he has someone else he can get it right now.
I agree his stands look good, and I've tried to contact him about an order, but without success. The email link provided by his Facebook page "[email protected]" appears to be misspelled, and I think there is a 't' missing out of "outlook"? I've tried both, the first is invalid, and no response so far to the second. I found a mobile number that might work: 07866 720590, but I haven't verified it. The Facebook page provides the option to also leave a message, for those with an account. I am told he is arranging to to have a website soon, and that might make things better when it's available. I hope some of this is helpful, and hopefully contact with Gee-Tech will improve and the stands will be easier to obtain in the future. Good luck. Tom.
An update on my paddock stand purchase, for those interested. I haven't managed to get a response from Gee-Tech, so I contacted F G Gubellini in Italy, and they offered a front and rear stand shipped to the UK for what seems a reasonable cost. They are the same design as those made for Ducati and sold through the dealerships. The stands offered are not single piece stands, which are not offered for international shipping because of the cost, but they are the same as those currently sold by Ducati dealers worldwide. The information they provided, and the images look promising. So, I've ordered a set, and will update the post when they arrive. I still like the look of the Gee-Tech stands, but I hope to obtain the stands sooner than later, so I've gone for a reputable alternative. Good luck with Gee-Tech.
I’ve always had Harris stands and always will! It’s only my opinion, few of my mates have the Gtech and they’re nice enough but for me Harris are just the best!
I think He has been on holiday as im waiting for a response as well.. but I have 2 stands already, and am happy with the product so far
I tries him the other year too and gave up. Went for ProBike stands. Really solid built professional use one piece stands, and a fraction of the cost
ive done the same this week. how did you get on with the importtax/customs duties side of things. ive been quoted eur 50 for the postage
@RC1, I was charged Euro45 for delivery of the two stands in two packages. Also, I've put together some info below from my other posts on this subject that might help, as follows. I bought F G Gubellini front and rear stands for a Panigale R with a single sided swinging arm. They make them for Ducati and the only difference is the label: https://www.fggubellini.com/en/ . Those for export to UK are the two piece version because of shipment cost. If you need more information about stands I suggest drop them an email and ask which stand is recommended for your bike: [email protected] . If you decide to buy direct from Italy, ask them to deduct local VAT and include a statement on the invoice that the items are made in the EU; which should be routine. That will ensure that you are not charged VAT twice, and there should be no import duty under the "rules of origin" agreement between the UK and the EU. This means that orders are UK customs duty exempt if products have been largely produced and manufactured in the EU. Under the terms of “The EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA)” arrangements, if the consignment value of goods made in EU is less than £135 (€150), VAT is paid in Italy (EU) and there should be no additional customs duty or carrier charge for brokerage, unless they impose a handling charge, but that should be small. Another option, would be to separate the purchases into parts bought separately, if the consignment cost of each can be kept below the €150 limit. The links below may help provide some background information on paddock stands from earlier forum discussions: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/paddock-stands.87919/ . https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/gee-tech-paddock-stands.87584/ . Also, for single sided swinging arms the paddock stand pin size can usually be changed to match the applicable rear axle diameter. The better known makes include: Ducati/F G Gubellini, Harris, Gee-Tech, and if money is no object a Pierobon! Other options can be found via the internet if those mentioned are not suitable. This Which link is quite informative: https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-ri...ay-vat-import-and-handling-costs-ajPOC6A5brEA . The link below is to a UK Government document on UK/EU VAT arrangements after 1 Jan 21: https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...s-goods-sold-to-customers-from-1-january-2021 . Not light reading, but I hope it is useful. Finally, after complaining to UPS, I paid the cost of the stands before Italian VAT (IVA), the UK Import VAT @ 20%, and the brokerage fee was waived because they got the original charges wrong! Basically it became a transaction similar to that in the UK, supported by the statements and cooperation of the supplier. I apologise in advance if you already know most of this. Good luck. Tom.
