My XDaivel is 5yrs old in September and has not even covered 2500 miles so the belt service is due regardless of mileage? Does anyone know the cost of a 5yr service? I am in Southend and nearest dealer is Chelmsford and their hourly rate is £90
I am planning on keeping it,I only got it in March and not used it much,It had a service last year at 1700 miles and I got it MOT’d today and it is now on 2100
Bargain I will get a price on Monday,I needed the pin code reset and they said 15min job for £22.50 / @£90hr
I would recommend Glen at Moto V at Fordham just of the A12 before Colchester used him many times with no problems. http://www.moto-v.co.uk/
Thanks I will give them a call tomorrow,Do bike garages do courtesy bikes? My main concern is distance so I need to be able to get back home
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t do a courtesy bike, I think it’s just the main dealers that might do that, If you had a Towbar there is seller on eBay from Wickford who hires out a bike trailer for about £25 a day. What I do get someone to follow me there
I have sent them an email and asked about a courtesy bike,I have a transit but no tow bar as I am converting it into a camper,I have a XLWB Mercedes Viano (no tie bar) but the seats clip out so I might get my tape measure out
Plenty of room for the length and if I take the mirrors off then it will go in,I will need to buy a wheel chock so I will wait and see what the prices are for both places before deciding,Colchester is twice as far from me as the Chelmsford main dealer
If you need it transported, this chap is quite good ("Ollie"): https://www.quickshiftertransport.com/
“From” £50 so a minimum £100 is not going to cost effective to have it transported,I will see what price I get tomorrow from the 2 garages and see how much they differ
Ducati Chelmsford has come back at £500 for a belt service / new belts + oil and filter and they do a courtesy bike
You could probably reduce that a bit by taking as much relevant bodywork off as you can (no idea what that'd mean on a Diavel!). Also means that you'd be the only one touching it too. Worth asking them....
There is nothing to take off on the XDiavel apart from maybe the belly pan which is all of a 5 min job to get off
I think they quoted 2 or 2.5hrs to do the belts and 1hr or so to do the oil and filter and various checks,I will take it early in the morning then go to work and pick it up in the afternoon,I am not fussed about £500 to do it and at least it’s a main dealer stamp in the book and ok for another 5yrs in which time the mileage will have gone up from 2000 to maybe 5000
another thumbs up for Glen at Moto V in colchester (and Ollie at quickshifter who took my bikes to Glen.) but ring him cos not sure he looks at email much
