  1. If you've been in that location over the years your know what i'm speaking about, dirty shop fronts / litter etc......

  2. Can’t say I recall ever knowingly going to Croydon. Most towns I do visit particularly close to London aren’t very attractive nor a lot of post industrial towns around the country.

They’re merely a reflection of just how affluent they are to me, run down and dirty suggests whatever wealth it once had has long gone.

  3. First rule when driving through there, lock your doors and always have a hand sanitizer inplace.

  4. i group Croydon in with Basingstoke and Milton Keynes from memory of visiting.

  5. Except in Croydon you’re guaranteed to get robbed and/or stabbed.

  6. it's funny you should mention it, I had to break into a musician's Nissan Micra parked outside Fairfield Halls when the Doorman failed to.

  8. Time for you to revisit Croydon and review your opinion.

  9. I agree Michel, it was a bit scathing as saw some great acts at Fairfield and although I never visited, I heard the Cartoon was "the place to be" at one time.

my memories of all 3 were more to do with confusing road systems and me getting lost truth be told.

  12. There’s a fairly large cult around the Micra, my Daughters current car which has served it’s purpose of giving her a car the prang around in whilst she learnt to drive and a year for experience.

Her next car will be an Alfa Romeo Mito as she can’t insure the Guiletta.

  13. it's a long story, and a good one but will spare you it for when or if we ever meet. I was not there for a show myself that time but a rendezvous. This was straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock film, and smiling as I recall the whole episode. I could hear the Orchestra tuning up as this Micra appears (gold I think?) and stutters to a halt (but engine still running, this is relevant). Middle-aged lady* emerges and rushes, well for her it was clearly rushing, to the back of the car and takes out her instrument (a cello I think) in it's case, slams the boot and then hurries to open the driver's door to turn off the engine not realising that it's locked itself. There's nothing to be done as she is clearly on the verge of being late, so leaves the car, ill parked for the elderly Doorman/Parking Attendant to deal with. We try blocking the exhaust but despite being a nearly new car, it has enough of a leak to carry on running. All sorts of attempts and ideas are tried, all intent on not damaging the doors or windows. I disappear and come back with cable ties and wire, might have been a coat hanger and get the job done quite quickly as luckily back then, the door lock button pointing skyward on top/near the back of the door trim was quite a protuberance, with a nice fat swelling at the top.

  14. Was it a Gullwing like XH Micra?

  15. nah N, much earlier, square type, about 30 years ago.

  16. There’s a older shape, like a box Fiesta? That shape was 30 years ago times a flying….

  17. Those situations are always the best type with human interaction problem solving and collecting brownie points also helps for a pat on the back.

  18. yes, these cars were fantastic, they just never went wrong, I wanted to get one as a runaround just because of this, despite being ugly (me and the car).

  20. This thread seems to have gone a bit off topic, but probably for the better, as the interviewer just seemed angry no one from the government had spoken to him....yawn.
