V4 Excessive ? V4s Rear Sprocket Movement

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Paul Johnson, Jun 26, 2022.

  1. Hi,

I've just spotted that my rear sprocket carrier sits slightly away from the wheel flange (?). I'm guessing that I've just not noticed this before.. I've dropped the wheel out and this seems to be by design, as the sprocket carrier spacer is tight against the specer in the wheel, however there is some clunking as shown in the video here :

    Thoughts anyone?

    Many thanks,

    pj

  2. Normal mate. Well, I hope it is. I’m running a V4S and mine does it.

  3. Well that’s good to know, thanks very much for checking yours.

  4. As they say in the world of BMW, they're all like that.;):D Mine is too.

  5. Same here, just a small gap and the same clunking, that's on a V4S with almost 8K miles. No ill effects noticed.

  6. Any play will be as a direct result of the cush drive rubbers, Some radial play is normal, you just don't want axial float
