Replacing 748 clutch cover with carbon cover, any issues to watch out for, does the existing gasket need to be given some stickablity or just line it up on the bolt holes. Is it OK to give the clutch housing some compressed air to clean the dust out? Here's the cover:
I have this cover on my 748/916. It's nice. You need the gasket to keep it from hitting the pressure plate. Installed dry work but put all the bolts in evenly, Compressed air is good for cleaning unless you're pulling the clutch apart. Don't breathe in the dust
Thanks for your help, I have got hold of the torque settings that give NM setting for the bolts: Clutch cover screws M6x1 10. I have a N95 Mask handy for the compressed air. I will upload some pics when I have finished, still waiting for the left and right heel guards, I have the carbon hugger on, the top of the right hand exhaust, termies were on the bike when I bought it, carbon instrument cover complete repaint of the two side fairings, and the top fairing. Looking much better
not out to "pick holes" , but are you sure yours is the same manufacturer? - they fluctuate a bit in dimensions from different manufacturers and sometimes the O.E.M. rubber "spacer" is not needed. Obviously if in doubt, then fit it anyway, but carefully offering up in place might help you work if there is already adequate clearance.
Hello Simo! The gasket is not mandatory on these, unless you ride a lot in wet wether. Spacers are often used to allow some of the dust to exit the clutch, but you will need to blow compressed air in it every now and then to keep your clutch (and cover) in good shape.
Yes seems there are some good alternative's here, the spacers and no gasket have some obvious upsides, thanks for the advice
as was trying to point out, some do, some don't so unless you can identify the manufacturer details then best to check for clearance anyway if fitting without the O.E.M. rubber spacer.
This might help, might not. But, bonus, shows cover with no gasket, just spacers. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threa...nuine-ducati-carbon-fibre-clutch-cover.76210/
